Finally arrived at Ramons Village located in San Pedro Belize around 1oclock yesterday. I have to say, this is a beautiful resort and room as we are staying in the honeymoon suite (not our honeymoon). After getting settled in we decided to eat lunch at Pineapples, which is the restauraunt on the resort. After eating we decided to speak to the divemaster and set up out excursions. After speaking with him and telling him the multiple things we wanted and if he could strike a deal with us he knocked about 20% off all the prices. Sunday we will be making a 2 tank dive, Monday diving the Blue Hole along with Half Moon Caye, Tuesday cave tubing and zip lining, and wrapping up another 2 tank dive Wednesday. We are here for 1 week exaclty Friday to Friday. After setting the tours up we decided to rent a golf cart and explore the island. After driving around for a few minutes, you learn there are mostly golf carts on the road with some vehicles. (Everybody drives like they have 1 minute left to get to work.) Very confusing at first as the streets are like New Orleans, some one way streets, and others 2 lane, with no street signs. So that was quite confusing at first as well as trying to navigate around. The roads remind me of new orleans again with some just being dirt (but the same kind of holes). I only took a few pictures and didnt get to take any while riding around as was trying not to get run over and figure out where to go. Some of the areas you pass through seem very poor, but all the locals are extrememly nice. If you did not know this before you come, you would think you are about to be mugged in some sketchy part of town. We then signed up for the poker run that is on the North side of the island for today, and finished up eating dinner at Fido's then crashed since we were up since 2am yesterday traveling. Will get more pictures today and update our trip.

Those pictures out the Cessna bring back memories. I was in the co-pilots seat on the way back to Belize City. Beautiful flight.

Definitely update about staying at Ramone's. We stayed at Athen's Gate with my wife's family, but ate dinner at the restaurant at Ramone's and thought it might be a cool place to stay if/when we go back by ourselves.

Also, if you don't know about it, there's an ice cream shop on one of the streets in the middle of town. D&E is the name, and it's worth a visit.

I'm here right now staying at a beautiful mansion a few miles up the beach from San Pedro. There are 14 of us staying at this place, kind of crazy but having a blast. Did a guided fly fishing trip yesterday which was awesome, caught some bonefish and permit. Snorkeled this morning, being lazy now. Weather is perfect.

Just finally made it back for the day. Started off with breakfast at Pineapples which is Ramons resort restaurant. Breakfast was good, and also free as it comes with the package of staying here. Worth eating daily as it isnt bad, and is free. Rented a golf cart and made the trip to secret beach. Long haul close to an hour from the resort due to the roads being terrible on the North side of the island. We have nothing but time so was cool to travel to the top of San Pedro. Was expecting a little more beach, but finally found a bar where you could walk in the sand to the water. Where we first went there was rocks on the edge of the water. Stayed till about 1230 to hit the poker run. Stopped at the Truck Stop to grab food before the poker run started. Food there was also good, as I had some pork and ham sandwich with fresh hand cut fries. Started the poker run at 2, and got done around 630, hitting 5 different bars. This was also fun and got us to a few other places we likely wouldnt have went. After the poker run we headed to Elvie's for dinner. We all had the coconut shrimp, which were amazing. Everything in the place looked to be really good food. I would recommend this as a must eat when coming to San Pedro.

I really like the location of Ramon's. We passed many of the condos today, that are on the North side of the bridge, which kind of seem in the middle of nowhere to me. Staying at Ramons, and you are basically 2 minutes from the CBD of San Pedro. I am starting to enjoy the main city part here, even though hectic, but are many many places to visit. North of the bridge is alot more rural. Tomm we will be making 2 inshore dives, heading out at 830. Here are a couple pics as well from today at a few of the stops. Besides diving tomm, we will probably relax at the resort as we have long trips planned the next 2 days. The blue hole and cave tubing are all day excursions.

Estelle's has good breakfast as well. Funny you say that about the beaches, it's one of the drawbacks of Belize, San Pedro in particular, just not a lot of beach at all. Just have to be ok with that before going.

Day 3 was a subtle one here in San Pedro. Woke up and ate breakfast then got all of our stuff ready to go dive. The water a couple minutes is out from shore is a beautiful blue. Estimating you can see 50-60 from the boat down, and 90-100 ft once diving. (2 tank inshore dive)- We made 2 dives with the first just swimming around it seemed and looked at coral. The 2nd dive included diving the barrier (I think) and swimming through a couple of holes/valleys between the barrier was amazing. I would think more fish would be located here but wasnt a ton. A nurse shark followed us around like a little puppy as the local divemasters kill all lion fish they see and feed it to the sharks. Also had a giant sea turtle swim right by us (5ft) that was amazing. Have alot of pics on the go pro that i will post when home. We forgot to being the adapter to get them on the Mac. Tomm we will be diving the blue hole which is an all day affair. Will check in tomm if time allows.

I did the Blue Hole / Half Moon Caye probably 10 years ago. Half Moon Caye is towards the top of the pretties islands/beaches I have ever visited, or atleast it was 10 years ago. Anxious to hear how you like it, I love San Pedro.

we did this same trip close to 20 years ago..scary part was the following day the prop plane with 4 americans crashed in the surf no survivors. they left the remains in a boat on the beach for the entire day.

Left the dock at 6am and returned around 430pm. It was a great day with great weather. First stop was the blue hole, which was smaller than I have imagined. Clear water, no wake or current. We started the dive and quickly made it down to 130ft to see the stalagmites for 4-5 minutes and swim through the cave a bit. Then worked our way back up to complete the dive. It was a better dive than I thought it was going to be but glad we did it. You cant come to Belize and not dive the blue hole. After took a couple pictures and headed to Half Moon Caye.

Half Moon Caye was a phenomenal dive, most likely one of the best in the world. Beautiful reef, manta rays, reef sharks along with lots of various marine life. This dive is a must if traveling to Belize. After this dive we docked at Half Moon island where we had lunch and chilled for a bit. After eating we walked along the island and got to see the red footed booby bird and iguanas. The water and beaches were top notch and much better than San Pedro. If this island was habitable, I would stay here without a doubt. We rode out a couple people that were with a marine division tagging and tracking sharks that stayed on the island. After this we headed to the Aquarium to make the 3rd and final dive.

The Aquarium was another good dive similar to Half Moon Caye and was an excellent drift dive that is another favorite.

All in all we recieved first class service from the Ramons Village divemasters. They couldnt have been any better. Simply the best divemasters I have been with both on and off the boat. Tomm we will be taking the cave tubing and zip lining tour on the mainland.
