Chinatown is awesome

Tour of AT&T field(Giants stadium)

Walk around fishermans wharf

Wife and I rented a bike and rode across the Golden Gate bridge .It was our favorite thing we did

Go to the Castro and Haight-Ashbury

Ghirardelli Square

For eating, do your research. Its a great foodie town and tons of great places. There is a ton of ethic food so pick out some places in Chinatown and dont fall for tourist traps along the wharf

The Stinking Rose is really good
Anchor Oyster Bar is legit
Tony's Pizza Napoletana is the shite. Great atmosphere and place to grab drinks and a great meal

Used this back in 2013 when we went for two weeks. Not sure how up to date it is now.

Quite sure there is still a great deal of info that can be helpful

Golden gate park has fun things to do, short trips to Monterey, Tahoe, Yosemite. Coit tower if great for the exercise and the amazing views, as are any of the hills in San francisco. Oakland is a great city also, it has a bad rap but is very vibrant. Go to house of prime rib, you won't be able to get a reservation unless you book a good month or more in advance, but you can walk up, have a drink and wait for a table.

Tour the WWII submarine. Do the audio tour.

If you have time, rent a car and drive south through Monterey, Pebble Beach, Big Sur, etc. you can make it to Big Sur and back in a day/evening. Can come back via more easterly road and cross the Bay Bridge on the way in.

Can rent a car and go north for wine country. But unless you love wine, the southerly route is more scenic and better

Have dinner at Rue LePic on Pine St. Also you can take the ferry over to Sausalito.
There is a great market at the ferry pier on weekends.

I've spent a lot of time in Benecia because we have a plant in Martinez I service. If you are out that way on 1st street there are two restaurants I would steer you to. Sailor Jacks (seafood and steak) and Lucca Bar and Grill. I love both places. In Vallejo there is Dead Fish restaurant that is very good. I went to Muir Woods. It was ok. Once you see a huge tree they all look the same. Napa and Sonoma are cool. In Napa I enjoyed The Bounty Hunter Wine and Cheese Bar. Best grilled chicken ceasar salad i've ever eaten. If you like wine drive up the valley to St.Helena and go to Rombauer winery. Top quality stuff IMO.

Caution

Keep wildlife wild!
Plague has been identified throughout the Sierra Nevada including Yosemite National Park. Wild rodents (including squirrels and chipmunks) are the principal source of plague in California.
