Taking a family trip. 4 nights out of Miami
Is Cococay worth all hat up charge
how hard is it to sneak some vodka on the ship. I’m the only drinker in the family, but they say you have to pay for beverage package for anyone over 21
That’s a huge waste for just me
Any excursions in Nassau worth doing?

CocoCay looks amazing.

Don’t sneak alcohol on the ship. They will confiscate it. If they find you with it after boarding, they will confiscate it and have the authority to confine you to quarters.

Budget how much you drink to figure out if you need the drink package. RCCLs packages are pretty good but you don’t have to buy one. You can buy drinks individually.

Nassau has a lot to do. What do you want to do there?

I was able to sneak some back onto the ship while at port when I was in high school. Just put it in a bag and minded my own business. My parents caught me a day or two later. All the other adults with us were jealous it didn’t get confiscated and asked how I did it. It actually was this exact ship out of Miami in 2006.

no they won't.
Smuggle all the vodka you want to drink. Its not hard. Coco Day is fun. But the Coco Locos add up. $$

Does anyone know what the water temperature is in the middle of April? Thinking of going but wife and kids are worried it might be cold.

I went on a cruise a couple years ago to Tortola and St Thomas. We were able to snorkel with young kids but the water was colder then what we are used to in Florida in June. After about a minute you are good and warm up. I think it was around 82 degrees at that time.

Water temp is fine. I only cruise in April or May. No issues.

There are plenty of exclusions that can get you out of this but you have to call to book. It cant be done in your cruise planner. Literally any reason will do, jus give them a call, add the package and make life easier.

NO need to sneak anything on and escape to your cabin to make a drink. No need to sneak anything around the ship. It also includes bottled water and specialty coffees as well so you can really squeeze it for it's value.

Our plan is a little backwards for Nassaue and Coco Cay. Yes, Coco Cay has a water park but Nassau has Atlantis and the beaches and pools. So, our plan has been to book a room at the Comfort Suites in Nassau (which comes with all inclusive passes to Atlantis for the day) and epend the day there.

At Coco Cay we pick one thing we want to do (parasailing, jet skiing, etc) and the rest of the time we spend it on the beach and in the pools.

What you want to avoid in my opinion is doing the same thing in both places and since Nassau sucks, it kind of dictates what we do in Coco Cay.

In the last 14 years, they have gotten a little bit better at finding your snuck-in booze.

They are pretty liberal about granting exception to that if you tell them the other person doesn't drink, but I always wondered if that would cause them to be blocked if they just wanted to buy a random alcoholic drink.

If you don't want to deal with sneaking it, and don't want to buy a package, just order a bottle of booze to be delivered to your room. I think on Royal it's $45 for 375 mL bottle. Not cheap, but cheaper than buying a bunch of drinks. We will bring some water bottles and crystal light sticks, and make rum punch by the glass.

We have done a day pass at Breezes, really enjoyed it. You can take the Jitney bus there which is pretty cool. We have also done a day pass at the British Colonial Hilton, but the beach there kinda sucks and the included food and beverage voucher doesn't get you very far.

We've done both as well and I would recommend Breezes over BCH, too!

I wouldn't say Nassau sucks. Plenty of cool stuff to do there.

I've been on multiple cruises and always smuggle a bottle of something on board, it's part of the fun. If they catch you smuggling it on they will confiscate it and you generally get it back the last day of the trip, but if not I'm out $30 and trying to get it on the boat is worth that to me.

Take a bottle of wine, and let your wife drink it, then rinse it out really good. It has to be a dark colored bottle with a cork.

Pour in your liquor of choice I usually do whiskey or rum, get a new cork and a wine corker and re-cork the bottle. Get one of the cellophane wraps to shrink over the cork and you are good to go.

Let your wife put the bottle in her carry on bag with a corkscrew and there you go.
