Long shot but I’m hoping someone can give a recommendation for a Michelin Star place in Lyon, France

Bocuse.
But also so many bouchons. Don’t overthink this.

I would highly recommend L’Alexandrin in Lyon. Chef Laurent Rigal is the chef and it has had a 1 Michelin Star for several years. We ate there in 2017 and the crowd was light. Chef sat at our table, gave us a tour of the kitchen and we enjoyed dessert with his wife. He spoke broken English and we spoke broken French. One of our favorite meals in France in an 18 day journey. At the time, Lauren was one of the top young chefs in Lyon.
If you want to see our blog from 2017, here is a link: French Countryside 2017 Blog Go to Day 11 for photos of our meal. The wine, service and food were outstanding. Our hotel concierge referred us to this restaurant. Great find. We stayed at Hotel Globe Et Cecil and it was a great location (near fantastic shopping for my wife). It was affordable, great hotel and a great location.
Lyon has the best chefs in France (better than Paris in my opinion). "À votre santé et bon appétit!" Cheers and enjoy.

At at Paul Bocuse last year and it was everything that it was hyped up to be.

I liked Brasserie Le Sud (Bocuse restaurant), but it looks like the reviews may not warrant a visit. Had a delicious Iberian pork dish with Romesco sauce that I’m still trying to replicate myself. Really liked Daniel et Denise for lunch—has better all around reviews. Regardless, I would look into both. Hope you enjoy

These were some other places I dined in, all really good although not Michelin starred (at least I don't think they were)
Café Terroir
Aux Trois Maries
Brasserie Georges

Bocuse
Best dining experience of my life. Not this flashy Vegas style Instagram BS, just pure experience classique. Will never forget it.

If you want fine dining try to get into Restaurant Paul Bocuse. My daughter spent Summer 2023 there and we visited. I had a number of fantastic meals in pubs and bistros that I unfortunately didn't right down, but Lyon is simply a fantastic culinary city. Had nothing but great meals there, including the pastry shops. Just great stuff

I am looking at booking a river cruise that ends in Lyon.
I may have a choice of staying in Lyon for a few days or going to Dijon to explore the Burgundy wine country.
The best of both worlds would be to go to Burgundy as a day trip from Lyon. I wonder how easy that would be.

Get the Michelin app, it’s great. Looks, at a quick glance, like there’s 11 1 stars and 3 2 stars in the Lyon area.
