Hear that is can be fantastic if the time and location is right.

Ideally we want to hike, experience fantastic views, fish a bit and not have to travel too far for a drink or a bite to eat.

Two adult couples, no kids.

Thoughts?

If you want to eat at restaurants and not cook at the cabin then Eureka and Hot Springs areas are the best bet.

My family's cabin south of Jasper has one restaurant within 30 mins

This place is pretty cool. Huge lodge in the middle of nowhere, with hiking trails in the area. Short one on premises. Can day trip to Eureka Springs, about an hour away.

But it is pretty much bring/cook your own food due to being so rural.

Mt. Nebo, Petit Jean State Park or Mount Magazine. All these are <1 hour drive of each other also. Great hiking too.

Eureka if you want the good food. Great restaurants, and the temp up there should be a little cooler.

Hot Springs has a decent selection but can be very crowded in the summer. You go into town, you're fighting the lake crowds at night.

The Jasper area is the most scenic, but absolutely nowhere to eat within any reasonable distance other than a cafe or two.

Mt Nebo is also beautiful, and has reasonable access to restaurants.

Northwest Arkansas is where you want to be. Best part of the state. Plenty to hike, bike, and explore. It’ll be easy to eat at good restaurants and do anything else cultural. It’s very easy to get around vs the rest of the state.

Thinking of flying into Little Rock late Sept/early October for a three night get away. What would be a nice area within 1.5 hours drive.
Doesn’t have to be a cabin as I would probably prefer a Inn/resort/or Bed and Breakfast.

I spent a couple of days working in Little Rock recently. I was surprised how nice it was tbh. The way it gets shite on by the OT, I figured it was a war torn hell hole. Plenty of nice restaurants, breweries, and a cool riverwalk area.

We found a cabin on vrbo south of Harrison near Jasper last Thanksgiving week. Tons of hiking in the area, the dogs loved it. Weather was perfect, lows around freezing and highs in the 50s, though I'm sure some years it can get pretty dicey that time of year. Took the wife to the spa 45 minutes away at big cedar lodge Missouri.

Sounds like Red Apple Inn at Greers Ferry Lake is what you are looking for.
