I’ll be going for work fairly frequently starting next week. Will typically stay near Centennial Park. I’m hoping for recommendations of good places to listen to some live music in a fairly chill atmosphere when I have down time. Welcome any recommendations.

The Bluebird Cafe is supposed to be very good but it’s small and has limited tickets.

Appreciate it I’ll check it out!

I am just hoping for a place or places where I can sit down and have a beer while listening to some live music. Obviously there’s no shortage of musical talent in Nashville, I am just looking to avoid crowded bars and clubs. Not really the vibe when I have to work in the morning.

We've liked City Winery.

Not sure how "chill" it is, but obviously the Ryman Auditorium downtown.

Or Google music venues.

Probably my favorite bar in the world. Can get packed and rowdy but can also be more laidback. Old school country.

The famous places along Broadway (Roberts, Tootsie's, etc.) warrant a visit, but they get packed. Just a short walk away is the Printers Alley area, which has several live music venues with much smaller crowds. No cover, so you can hang for a few songs then move on to the next one.

I Love Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie bar in Printer’s Alley. Usually stay at the Hampton on 4th avenue right across the street from Printers. Hit Broadway early then go to Printers Alkey so I can just finish up right by hotel

We are over the age of 60 and go to Nashville to visit our daughter quite frequently. I think the best bar on Broadway is Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row. https://dierkswhiskeyrow.com/. Great live music almost all the time

What is your company budget for hotels? It can run 400-600 during peak event times at the better hotels and I am not talking about The Joseph but just a basic Marriott. I stay in Green Hills area where it’s quiet but quick to downtown area if that is where you need to be for work. Franklin is nice too just need to account for the traffic in the morning.

Anything around broadway and a couple nice joints in the gulch . Redneck riveria might be the only place not packed on broadway and it’s great live music

Bluebird Cafe is fun, but it can be really hard to get tickets. For just 1 ticket, you could probably go wait in line for either show and stand an ok chance of getting it, if you get there early.

Try the Listening Room, 3rd and Lindsley, or the Commodore Lounge at the Vandy Holiday Inn.

Thanks to everyone for the advice.

Update: I didn’t have time to catch any music this trip, but I had a hell of a dinner last night at Martin’s BBQ. It was a very short walk from my hotel, so that’s going to be a staple for me.

If you want good music, get off the strip. Unless you want to listen to Devil Went Down to Georgia and Country Roads by every single band

Start at Bearded Iris in Germantown. Have a few beers then Uber over to The Optimist for dinner. After dinner listen to live music at Star Rover sound. It's in the same building.
