I've stayed at what they used to call "Dixie Landings" a few times. They have a great pool on "Ole Man's Island". When this place was built they moved a massive oak tree to be the centerpiece at the top of the slide. They also had a catch and release pond full of bream and bass.

This was my itinerary back in the 2ks. we would hit the preferred park early.I had a couple of gallons of milk and some cereal in an ice chest in the room. There was no fast pass, there was no dining plan, the only time I went to a character meal was with my niece on the third trip. Total disaster with her and my SIL. Bitched about the bus service, bitched about the shitty breakfast food, bitched about paying $20+ for rubbery eggs, stale waffles and burnt toast.

If you have girls, I guess that you have to do what you have to do.

Boys, are another matter. We would hit all the great rides as early as we could.I can remember turning them loose on Tom Sawyers Island. "DO NOT LEAVE THIS ISLAND AND STAY TOGETHER". Wife and I had lunch at Pittypats Porch. They'd show up an hour or so later, we would leave the crowds, eat some bologna/peanut butter sandwiches and hit the pool...right about my personal "Happy HOUR". There is a bar at the pool and plenty of lifeguards.

One thing that I never see mentioned on these threads are the water parks. If your kids can swim, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are great 1/2 day alternatives when the lines at MK become too long.

Uber XL for 4 would probably be wise, it works pretty good down there. I've used it all around Orlando.

If yall there the sunday before Mardi Gras, come cheer me on in the princess half marathon. I'm gonna frickin need it.

Drink some butterbeers for me at Harry Potter World, I love those damn slushies.

Port Orleans has what looked like the most buses out of the moderates. Lots of people and long lines. I'd play it safe and do the Uber.

Are Ubers allowed to enter resort grounds without having a reservation at that particular resort? I seem to remember last time I was there we had to stop at the gate of the resort to check in.

You could say you are going to breakfast or simply just be dropped off at the gate.

Disney allows Ubers to come through the gates now without paying. You can go to guest drop off or the Contemporary.

Okay for the 8am ADR at MK.

I should get an Uber for 7am from the resort then go to the drop off at the TTC?
I think the kids like the monorail so if we have time I would like to do that.

If not ask to drop off at the contemporary.
I don't like the bus idea, but I guess the plan is to get up, walk to the main building, look at the line at the bus station. If it's long we will Uber.

There is no need for an Uber...the busses won't be crowded at all that early in the morning. If you want an Uber, its not like it's a bad idea but at 7 am the bus stop will be ghost town.

Maybe we will just check the bus if it looks bad then we can Uber to Contemporary.

I wanted the early askurshus breakfast because I didn't do fast pass at Epcot planned to go to the Frozen ride, then forgot that part of the park opens an hour after future world. So I guess we will run to test track.

If your ADR is at Akershus, you'll be right next to Frozen Ever After (less than 200').

Most people don't even think the busses run that early since they think the park opens at 9 am. Even the early risers who plan on getting their for rope drop don't get to the bus stop that early.

If I was bussing it to Epcot from Port Orleans and planned on hitting rope drop (which for us would mean being past security/bag check by 8:30 am) I wouldnt even get to the bus stop until like 7:40 or so.

The thought of having to plan my meals a few months in advance doesn't seem fun. Not a Disney hater but we have never done it that way. Just seems like a lot of work to plan where you will be eating months in advance. I am looking forward to hitting up the new water park at Universal.

It can be alot of work. But when compared to the alternative it's an easy decision in my opinion.

The park hours are posted months in advance so it's fairly easy to see what parks will be the most and least crowded each day. Once you know that you an pick what parks you think you might want to go to then what places in or near that park you want to eat.

Its not that much different than searching yelp or trip advisor for somewhere good to eat when you visit the Louvre, Big Ben, The Grand Canyon, etc. Sucsessful travel usually takes research, some work and flexibility.

The problem with Disney is when people don't plan and expect to just "wing it" into the best dining options in the least crowded parks or complain because they ate cardboard breakfast and waited 45 minutes for everything.

That's it in a nutshell.

The biggest complaining I hear is from those who don't plan.

We're heading back next month and we have reservations at Morimoto's, STK, and Bongos.

People seem to forget Disney Springs exists.

Saw the OP wasn't up on his fast passes either. Big mistake, the biggest killer at Disney is time and some planning is the difference between a bad trip and a great one.

Yep, it's not a lot of fun. You can wing a lot of great vacations, but this isn't one of them. Just set yourself up for a bad time.

Not sure on uber early mornings, I never do breakfast reservations because I am not a fan of breakfast food. Well except for bacon.

5th stay coming up March 5-11 at PO Riverside for Flower and Garden at Epcot. Suggest Alligator Bayou section preferred room and if possible building 14 or 15. Room requests made when reservation completed but 4-5 days out, send the hotel a fax attn reservation # room request. Been lucky and always hard request filled that method.

I like my timing.

Day one, arrive at park and go to Be Our Guest, get pre-ordered breakfast, be done before Rope drop, then go get in line at Mine Train before people from Main Street get there. Then at 10:30 I can go to Space Mountain, at 12 we can do Big Thunder Mountain. That covers the girl's favorite rides. They wanted Spash Mountain first thing but I decided it was better to do that later. (the line is fun there too)

Then we have the third Fast Pass at 3pm at Seven Dwarfs again.

At that point I can get more and we will look and see what choices.
Neither really want to do meet and greets this year...

At 7 we go to the Skipper canteen.

Then wing it.

Day Two. At Ashkershus for 8:05. Go to Frozen or Test Track. Then ride rides there until 1pm. Leave go to Hollywood Studios. 3:30 Fast Pass Rocking Roller Coaster, 5:00 fastpass to Tower of Terror, Dinner ADR at Sci fi drive in (a place I wanted to try) Then a Star Tours fastpass because it's right there.
I know that Toy Story is the big ride there, but we did it three times last trip and if the line is too long oh well. They didn't get to do Rockin Roller Coaster last time.

Day three 9:00A fast passes to Dinosaur, then before noon fast passes to Safaris and Everest. Plane to leave that park before 2. Set second round of fast passes at Epcot, depending on time, kill time between 2-5 (MK?). Dinner ADR at 8 at Chef's De France. Extra magic hours at Epcot until 11.

Resort. Breakfast at resort to burn last QS credits.

Check out, Check into Cabana Bay.

Thursday and Friday going to Universal/Islands of Adventure.

Have to be home by 3pm Saturday

(plans were Daytona on way back and a quick stop in Saint Augustine, oldest has tryouts for a play she really wants to do, now)

did the same thing last time we went. we got building 15 with two connecting rooms. there was a cast member waiting for us with our names on a dry erase board at the magic express drop off at the lobby. she took care of all of our check in needs. a nice touch. send a fax.

I know we're Talking resort here but a few comments (if you're interested)....

Overall, your plan looks sound. No huge flaws and alot of room for flexibility which is always good. I personally don't like breakfast ADRs while trying to squeeze in rides just before the park opens but I know people who swear by them and while risky and expensive, they can be effective.

Since they have added the additional screen at Soarin the wait times have built at Test Track faster than they have over at Soarin.

Especially coming from Norway, I think you'd be best to hit Test Track first

I hate using My Disney Exerience for current standby wait times. That app jus drains your battery. I've used the link from Easy WDW ad just put a shortcut on my phone and it's much faster.

Example is from Jan 24

The 9 am Dino FP+ is a waste, I'd change it to something else. Anything else, unless your plan was to just burn through your first 3 as fast as possible to book something over a Epcot for later in the day. If you haven't already, look into possibly a Festivl of the the Lion King FP+...that show is great and probably the single biggest collection of talent at any show in any park (not La Nouba, etc).

Also, the conservation station and Rafiki's Planet Watch is cool too. Kids always love the petting zoo.

Got this planned out or just winging it? The two Harry Potter parks are about the only ones usually crowded. King Kong is new so it can get long too.
