Gonna take the new wife (no pics) to Universal for a day trip and she loves Harry Potter stuff. I gather adult tickets run around 85ish bucks but haven’t done much more research about where to park and such. No idea about mask requirements either. Anyone got any good info on Universal Orlando?

Get on their website and get an express pass. Gonna cost you but Is 150% worth it. You can park in the big parking garage outside City Walk. The Harry Potter worlds are badass whether you’re a fan of the story or not.

I’m all for skipping long lines so we’ll pick up the express pass. Kinda sucks that you have to get that AND regular admission tickets but you seem to be very confident it’ll be worth it so I’ll go with Internet stranger confidence this time. It’s not that I don’t like Harry Potter stuff ( I find the later movies to be pretty alright) but she is a mega fan so I’m hoping to get photos of her nerding out.

I wouldnt pre-buy it. You can purchase it in the park the day of if you need it.

Does that $85 include park to park admission so you can see both islands of adventure and universal orlando?

If you don't have park to park, you'll want it to see both Harry Potter Worlds. Hogsmeade has Hagrids Motorbike (Islands of Adventure) which is a must do and is not on express pass so you will want to start your day there (EARLY) then head to Universal Orlando for Diagon Alley and the other HP attractions that do accept express pass (but arent always needed)

The $85 dollar thing I mentioned was after almost zero research. Now that I’ve looked at the website, it’s $164 for both parks for one adult. So that plus the express pass puts a one day trip for two around $400.

Thanks for the tip about hitting up islands of adventure first. Hopefully since there’s some sorts connection between the parks we can park at the aforementioned garage and just walk through one to get to the other if need be. Gonna look up park times later, but we’re planning on being there when the gates open.

We went recently and the wife did not get the express pass but ride and saw everything Harry Potter. Just go early, you have to get both parks though.

Where are you guys staying ? If you stay the night at one of the three major Universal resorts the express pass will be included. My suggestion would be Hard Rock. Super easy walk to the park from there. Nice spot.

If you chose to stay at hard rock the night after the parks you could go to the hotel early morning (several hours before your check in) and they’ll go ahead and give you the express passes.

Not staying in Orlando. I’m
Only like 45 miles from there for the honeymoon and this idea just popped into my head. I’ll have to minimize my day drinking but that’s fine.

I imagine going during a school day might help. I’ll try my luck without the express pass but if it seems urgently needed after walking out of the Motorbike thing we’ll pick it up for sure.

I am not sure when you are planning on going, but the parks are dead right now. Even Hagrid is under an hour wait. Gringotts and Forbidden Journey are walk-ons. (you should not need express)

You can always buy the Express Pass in the park if you feel it is more crowded than you thought. I always recommend the Express Pass but it really does depend on the time of year, I just can only go during busy times. If I went when most rides were walk in’s then I would be pretty pissed.

Here this week, they are closing up early if it’s not a horror nights and then you need a HHN ticket for that, which is an amazing time to do Diagon Alley because no one is in there hardly. Universal is closing at 5 or 6, Islands is doing 7 or 8 depending on days for both. Got a feeling lack of people wanting work is effecting a lot, seems to be less workers for people in the park than I am use to even for this time of year.

Lines weren’t awful so we skipped express pass, we usually never do that since we get in free due to relatives that work there and go a lot, so not trying to rush to do everything.

Was kinda sad to see they got rid of the noble collection wands/closing out the rest of them and just now sell the cheaper made interactive ones.

Kids or no kids?

Mythos if no kids, lots of good eating at City Walk too.

With kids the quick service is pretty meh, but the Harry Potter restaurants have really good atmosphere for hanging out and enjoying the details.

We're going for the first time the week between Xmas and NYE. I know it's the worst possible time as far crowds but w/ kid's school and a ski trip in Mardi Gras, it's all we could do. My question, we're only giving ourselves 1 day at Universal parks, we're staying at the Universal resort so we'll be there when the park opens with fast passes and our kids range from 4-8 years old. Is one day enough? We definitely don't need to do everything but would like to get in most of the major attractions.

If you stay on-site, have park to park tickets, have express pass, are at Islands of Adventure at least an hour before early admission for resort guests and head straight to Hagrids, yes. You can see most of the park in one day.

A day in each park is fine. Express pass during that time of year will probably be necessary, but have done it without them, but we make use of single riders which universal still does for a lot of the big rides and know some of the really in poor taste line skips lol. Have done that time of year a lot. It’s pretty rough on crowds. We have done both parks in a day before, but we are familiar with them and know what we enjoy.
