Will in the near future be taking our 12 pound Yorkie on a nine hour overseas flight. The dog will be in a carrier with us since he is so small. How do I let him pee. I’m told the airlines have nothing to help. Damn! People can’t hold it that long. How do they expect a dog to hold it? So if I let him out on a leash and he pees on the airline floor I guess the plane will be forced to land and I’ll be arrested.

Kennel it
You can survive without kissing your dog for a week.
People that bring dogs on flights are the worst

Can’t. We will be over there for at least three months.

Move this to the travel board. You'll get actual answers there.

Are all of your relatives coming with you?

Just put a emotional support vest on him and the airline will give him his own seat.

If bringing the dog is truly unavoidable...
Walk the hell out of it immediately before the flight to wear it out as much as you can. Hopefully it will sleep most of the way.
Get some of these, and put them in the carrier.

Put the dog in a kennel in the luggage hold with some sort of absorbent material in the bottom like thousands upon thousands of people did for years until it suddenly became OK to put dogs in the passenger compartment. Not sure how that got started.

Sorry the airlines don’t have grass patches for your fricking dog to use on flight. I’m sure the person sitting next to you is going to love your dog barking the entire time.

Leave it with family then.

Might want to make sure it is okay to bring your dog there and that it doesn't have to be quarantined.

Have grandma knit a "comfort animal" sweater for it, and it will have free reign to piss wherever it wants in the plane.
Seriously, though, you are looking at a huge pain in the arse. Hell, the damn thing might be quarantined for longer than you'll even be there. And will it have to be quarantined on your return to the U.S.?
Find a friend or relative to take of it, or fill a couple of kiddie pools with water and another with kibble.

3 month boarding for a 12 pound dog is likely next to nothing.

If nothing goes in... nothing comes out.

Can you not euthanize it before you leave?
