Am travelling to be in NJ frim Nov 7th to 10th and all the prices I get come out to be over $250 for roughly lil over 3 days of a mini SUV car rental. Will be 4 of us including luggage so going with Mimi SUV.

Am I missing something about the prices being so outrageous or is this normal?

Thanks

4 days at roughly $60 a day doesn’t seem outrageous to me. Particularly for an SUV in the northeast.

Try joining the car rental company's rewards program, it could help with an upgrade.

Newark is one of those irritating airports where you have to take a shuttle bus to get to the car rentals. I hate that.
Everything is expensive in the area so that rate doesn't surprise me.

So true, also it seems that a satchel full of cash to navigate all the toll roads might come in handy.

SkyTrain, not bus. The same system that links the terminals will get you to the rental car center. Once you figure out how to access SkyTrain and get your car back to the facility, EWR isn’t that bad except the rental prices (which still beat the other side of the river).

oh yeah I always forget they have the AirTrain now--I have flown OUT of Newark my whole life, never fly in and rent a car but I knew they were "off site" . I imagine the Air Train is less annoying than a shuttle bus. I've been to other airports where you have to take a shuttle bus ride off site and I hate that.

Pretty sure the toll passes could contribute to the high cost. We rented a car from Boston to Maine and went through a few toll booths.

Car rental agencies charge a daily fee to have the toll transponder in the car but you pay that PLUS the tolls...the tolls are additional charges to you.

Correct. If they didn't add toll pass charges to the fee, rental cars would be abandoned along the run up to the toll booths.
