Siesta Key in Sarasota is better.

Also, just in the same area of Destin, i think that Navarre is better.

Destin has nice beaches, don’t get me wrong- but not the nicest in the continental US.

It’s Siesta Key, part of Sarasota, and it’s in SW Florida on the Gulf, between St Pete and Naples.. consistently voted #1 beach in N America, and one of the top beaches in the world (no link, feel free to google).. main prob;lem lately has been the occasional red tide outburst(you can also google that), but in general it’s very very beautiful.

I'll summarize what I did.

Sarge's Deli for Deli food.

Was really good classic deli style.. This is the $19 full lunch special. This was "the local's deli". While eating there, I was pretty cozy with the people next to me, and we got into a conversation about wrestling (Wrestlemania is this weekend there), then food, then occupations. Apparently this place is where a lot of cooks, servers and chefs eat and for food that is usually a good sign. I tried matzo ball soup for the first time and didn't like it, the potato salad was pretty good, but the pastrami/corned beef on rye was amazing.


Papaya Dog for the classic papaya slaw dog. Was pretty good, nothing special. $3.95 for dog and drink, which isn't bad as dogs and drinks alone are $3 everywhere.

NY Pizza Suprema. After doing a lot of research, many people who tried a lot os pizza put this as the must try place. The split was between normal Pizza and "upside down pizza" which was a mix of "NY grandma style" and "Sicilian" Easily the best pizza I ever had.

For Bagels I tried two top five places. Brooklyn bagel and Best Bagel. Best bagel was the higher rated but not open early Saturday. So I walked the 21 blocks to Brooklyn Bagel (on 8th and 23rd) They have 24 types of cream cheese. I tried the Cucumber dill on an Everything. Then got a couple of raisin and everythings to go.



My last day there I got Best Bagel. It was a better bagel, but both were very good. Best bagel was on 32nd not far from the Empire state building. The line was long but it went quick. They have 12 types of cream cheese and are a little but more for the bagels ($2.75 plain, $3.60 with cream cheese) but it's worth it.

If you want a good bagel in midtown, try these two places



In chinatown we seeked out two things. Cheap fake purses (lol) and Soup dumplings. After getting off the subway we were swamped by women with laminated sheets showing images of purses. After settling on brands and colors and price (always go less than half on first offer then settle on half) we went off for food.
A few steps into Little Italy (which is a fuzy border with Chinatown) is Little Szechuan. We tried an assortment of many dumplings. All excellent. I would seek this place out, though like every other time in Chinatown I don't know exactly where I was.


Shake Shack. I tried Shake Shack, it was good, not great. I won't say more as it's seems to be controversial to mention.
