When is the next dance meet? Asking for some friends.

I am sure there are competitions in Biloxi all spring, but the one we go to is always mother's day weekend.

I'd say 1/4 to 1/3 of the moms on our dance team are single, or at least unmarried. Most of them are OT 3 or OT 4, but hey they are fun people and I'm sure if you have low standards you, eh, your friends, could smash.

that upgrade article looks awesome

i was at the nugget in october, and decided to walk over to margaritaville just to check it out

pools up top were closed due to weather obviously, but the enter place was a gigantic fun park/arcade for kids

people were EVERYWHERE

i was shocked at the number of folks there playing, eating, drinking etc.

Holy shite, that’s a big fricking lie.

Maybe not in and of itself, but several large scale projects in the works for Biloxi and Gulfport, both in infrastructure and entertainment. The BP oil money has been a massive shot in the arm, and Harrison County MS has already passed Gulf Shores/Orange Beach and Pensacola combined in annual tourism.

I find this really hard to believe.

uhm Link?

I bet you that Pensacola, Gulf Shores, and Orange Beach has had more tourism in the summer (June-August) than Harrison County has for the whole year, baw

Nope, MS coast tourism is a lot stronger in the off season because of the casino resorts, and constant conventions at those resorts. In the summer, the numbers just inflate.

So do they just count every person who walks into a casino every day as a tourist to inflate those numbers?

Yeah, it's the total number of hotel rooms annually, so it's casinos.

There's absolutely no way this is true. I'm guessing that someone in Mississippi is skewing some data hard. Like using the total amount of check ins or total amount of hotel rooms, or something like that. There's absolutely no way Biloxi beats Gulf Shores as far as total visitors and money spent on lodging.

Maybe Jobs from tourism because they count all of the people working in Casino's and there's not many direct tourism jobs in Gulf Shores but tons of indirect jobs.

It doesn't beat Gulf Shores in these categories, it trounces it. The casinos generate constant traffic, year round. Especially with out of town instate guests as well as a lot of La and AL traffic. Then, you have the group travel packages through casinos, using tour companies and chartered airline flights.

There is no “offseason” in Biloxi. Ask the businesses supported by tourism, they are busy year round. On top of the casinos, events like Cruising the Coast, scrapin the coast, black spring break bring tons of people. Concerts and events at the coliseum year round. Now they have legal sports betting.

Gulf Shores is a ghost town more than half of the year. Again, ask a local business that depends on tourism about their down period. The money talks

Biloxi doesn’t have an ”on-season” either. There are very obvious reasons why one would go to the Orange Beach area at certain times of the year...pretty much no reason to go to Biloxi ever.

I still say the only way the numbers might be higher for Biloxi area is if they count every single person who walks through the door at any of the casinos as a tourist. Even with that, it might beat out one of the beach towns to the east that were mentioned.

There are a shite ton of condos and hotels in Gulfshores and Orange beach. Yeah, it's slow in the winter, but all year they still have huge softball/baseball/soccer tournaments as well as some pretty big beach volleyball tournaments. Plenty of other special events as well.

I've explained it. If you want to do the research feel free. Mississippi coast does twice the tourism of the Alabama gulf coast by the numbers.

MS coast hosts over 400 events a year.
