Have 2 days to kill, we can travel but thought there’s a few things we can do in Madrid? Am I wrong? Anyone? Going next month, assuming no soccer games. Art? Food?

While I don’t love Madrid like I do other cities it’s a massive city so there is a ton to do.

2 of the best art museums in the entire world. And the kind of world class food you would expect to find in a city with that level of money and population.

Very little in the way of old world historical sights though.

The Palace is awesome. The Prado is a must. Find a nice rooftop for some drinks. Spend an afternoon in the Parque del Retiro. Hit the Plaza Mayor for some quick pictures, and the Plaza del Sol for a picture with the bear statue.

Madrid is my favorite city in the world. You can easily fill up 2 days.

Food wise just be prepared to eat at 11 PM. I like doing a few tapas at a bunch of places. The Mercado San Miguel is very good for a food court (I forgot the other one we really liked although the pulpo at it gave my wife food poisoning). Make sure to get a Spanish tortilla one day.

I agree with first response, not my favorite city but there is plenty to do. The Prado museum is incredible, as is the palace. Food is amazing, and there are some great day trips out of madrid.

Check out a Devour Food Tour. Well worth it IMO

And some may say its a tad too touristy, but Mercado de San Miguel was cool and they had a little of everything to eat and drink.

As far as Madrid goes as people have already said the Prado, Mercado San Miguel, and the Royal Palace is interesting (being a nerd I enjoyed the Royal Armory).

I'd also suggest looking at a short train ride to Toledo. Lots of cool things to see/do there if you enjoy history/art. It only takes ~30 mins to get there.

You can book an evening to see Flamenco dancers. We did and it was a lot of fun.

Everyone has hit on the main things. You can also grab a train to Barcelona and take in Parc Guell and Familia Sagrada.
