Looking for European style vacation

Looking for European type vacation but in February so Europe is out due to weather. Looking for a cool place where you can go into town and experience the local culture and do a lot of walking, eating and drinking. Was looking at Chile but would love some suggestions. TIA

Genuine question - how do you define a European style vacation? What specifically are you hoping for? Architecture? Just the aspect of walking/eating/drinking?

Why is Europe out? Southern Italy, Sicily, Greece, plenty of Euro destinations are fine in Feb.

Well personally I wouldn't rule out Europe that time of year. In fact some of our best trips had been in January.
We went over to Italy after Christmas two years ago for example and stayed through the 2nd week of January. Stayed in Florence, Orvieto and Rome. Maybe one day was kind of cold (mid to low 40's F), but we have some sweaters and shells and were fine. Plus you can always buy some clothes over there!
Yes it can be cold based upon where the country is, however the distinct benefits are there are FAR less tourists. Much cheaper. And it's kind of interesting to be in cold weather in certain countries. And as noted there are countries in Europe that are very warm even that time of year like southern Italy or Spain.
I haven't done it but how about looking into Albania or Montenegro? Supposedly the beaches are amazing, it's very cheap and not very many tourists. I have been to Croatia twice and can highly recommend checking out the coastal cities.

Buenos Aires is considered very European as far as SA goes. It is called Paris of the South

I hear Bariloche has a pretty European culture, brush up on your goose step.

Much of Central and South America will have a tremendous amount of Spanish influence, food and architecture especially. Once the conquistadors came over and conquered the native civilizations they soon brought everything else with them. Such is the case for most of history

No kidding, I might prefer Europe in winter now TBH. Bars/cafes to get away from the cold work a hell of a lot better than bars/cafes to get out of the heat and crowds.

As said, I wouldn't rule Europe out. As said South America or Asia/ Australia would be your next bet. But the flights to those places can be just as long if not considerably longer, and depending on where you go the same price or more.
If you want a European vacation, I'd go to Europe. South of Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, etc. will all have weather that is just fine in February. Especially if you live in the southern USA and don't mind vacation somewhere that its not hot as balls.

I usually go in Feb/Mar for Mardi Gras. Have been to Dublin, London, Sicily, Naples, Amalfi Coast, Rome, Paris, etc at that time of year and enjoyed all of them. Yes it might rain, but life goes on despite the rain. Got hailed on 4x in one day last year in Palermo on Lundi Gras...but it was still a thoroughly enjoyable day.
Being prepared for the weather is key. Proper footwear, a legit raincoat, pants w/some nylon content to shed rain. (And, as the Irish say, it never rains inside the pub.)

I enjoy Traveling Europe in the winter. You may see some snow but overall it's not unbearable unless you go up to some of your Scandinavian countries. Also, city centers are less crowded with tourist while flights and lodging will be cheaper. Get you a nice Barbour Jacket and a scarf and you'll fit right in.

Sicily. Add a side trip to Malta if you have the time.

I agree
But I'll even go farther and say being prepared for the weather isn't really much of an obstacle, especially for dudes. Most of the time you're dealing with conditions only marginally worse than you might at home. I don't worry much about footwear here, or use a heavy parka often, or wear rain pants, etc. Obviously if you're trekking in England/Ireland/Scotland it's different, but if you're largely hiking around towns/cities, staying in hotels and using Uber then you'll likely be fine even if you don't come fully prepared.

Adding on to this, as a warning to OP, if you start traveling to Europe in winter you'll be totally screwed when it comes time to plan a Summer trip. Having your pick of 5 star hotels for reasonable prices in winter becomes tripling that in Summer or having to dip way down for accommodations.

If my wife was down, I've been wanting to go to Mexico City recently. Decent flight prices and pretty cheap trip all together.
I say this a lot on here, the main benefit to South America is that the time of the year is opposite from the States. But the problem to me is the flight times are still long and total travel can be even longer to Europe. And I have some flight tracker's set and those suckers never did. You are looking at $1200+ for airfare for what I can tell. Until I have explored all of Canada, all of Europe, and all of the states I just have a hard time getting motivated for South America.
