Cliff Notes. 3 couples from Maryland. Guys turn to choose long weekend trip. Trip scheduled for late October and we choose Old Town Scottsdale. Due to some scheduling conflicts we are now looking at last weekend in September. Certainly want to spend a good deal of time outside.
I traveled for over 30 years and spent time in hot spots during summer and cold during winter. But I was paid to do that. Now we are paying and just don’t wN5 to hear complaints about the heat, etc.

Late September is usually when the cool-ish breezes return in the mornings and it isn't unbearably hot at the crack of dawn. But it will still be warm during the day.

Austin is pretty similar to most of La weather wise in terms of September. I’ve been there in mid September where it’s very nice (low 80s/50s) can just as easily be warm.

Austin is hit or miss in late September. Can be really nice or can still be scorching. Sante Fe would be nice that time of year.

Depends on how soft you are.

Millions of people live in it everyday, certainly you and your East Coast boys can last a few days without melting, no?

It was 93 degrees in Austin today. Summer hasn't even started.

Consider the first weekend in October (10/05) in Austin is ACL Fest weekend 1. Depending on dates you're going in late September, you might run into ACL Fest prices for places to stay.
