Wife and I need a vacation (beach and laid back) soon so was thinking about going to Isla. We were booked at Secreto last March but obviously that didn't happen. Is it worth going in the next month or two? Are most things open back up?

There is a group on FB you can join called Islaholics. You can get real-time info from there.

Join the group HGG posted. I'm in it and get updates regularly (sometimes too many).

Wife and I are planning a trip for after Christmas.

Ive got some time off and Covid will hopefully not be as big a deal then.

We're looking at Tulum, Isla again (went last summer, it was amazing), or Holbox

Following this thread. Been wanting a quick getaway to Isla Mujeres (maybe 4-5 days) and seeking more info on how things are down there. Might check out the FB group HGG suggested.

Skimming through the group (lots of posts trying to rent places and what not) it seems as though most things are opening back up and all of that. Think I may pull the trigger for September. Anyone ever been in September? Too hot?

Just watch the radar and tropical forecasts. I don't like to book more than a couple weeks in advance if I'm going to the Caribbean this time of year. Should be easier this year though given the lack of demand so prices shouldn't be too bad by waiting until closer to the date you are targeting to book stuff.

It looks like Playa Norte (the actual beach) is closed. I'm not going down there if I can't even go to the best beach on the island...

We have been in September, the temperature should be in the high 80s. But also know that September is the month when they get the most rain.

From Islaholics and a friend who just went, Norte is closed and they keep teetering on going from Orange to Red status which would significantly alter a tourist's time. You can go to a private beach club or hotel, just not on Playa Norte, and most places were open with social distancing etc. I booked a SW flight next month but holding off on anything else until last minute.

I'm going with a group Oct 8-11 (FL game)

Went last Oct and had a great time.

Some restaurants were closed, but we had a large enough group to make arrangements

Be forewarned. It is hot as frick this time of year.

We don't have anything planned but Isla is on my very short list of places to go when we travel again.

Eat at Bastos and Fredy's and tell Fredy VABuckeye says hey and I miss my pal.

Also thinking of a trip right after Christmas, what’s the top spot these days? It’s been a while since we had vacation so willing to spend. It will be our first time.

What’s your budget? There are some damn nice houses you can rent on Isla. Don’t let the quiet island vibe fool you.

I think we would prefer a hotel/some type of staff vs a privste house but those do looks awesome.

I could go up to a $1000 night for the right place.

Is there a better end of the island to stay on to access the beach? Is November a decent time to go? Thinking about booking for thanksgiving break.
