Is there such a thing as a worthwhile quick trip to Europe?

Been looking at these really cheap flights all over Europe in Feb/Mar/April. Would a trip to Barcelona or Madrid or San Sebastian for 5 nights be worth it? Flights and AirB&B would be less than $1500 for two people for that duration. Man I’d like to jump on something like that! Typically I’m of the thought that if I’m spending a ton of money, I want to go for 10+ days because “we might not get to go back because it’s so expensive” but this seems like it would be just like going somewhere in country. Would a trip that short be worthwhile?

Yes.... you won't be able to city hop like you want but you will be able to see the city and the highlights of the city.
Does the 5 days include travel days? Or is it really 3 days because of travel days?

Fly day 1
Land morning of day 2
Fly home day 7
So, afternoon day 2 and all day available days 3-6.

Then totally worth it if Flight + AirBNB would be that cheap for you... I would jump on it if I could find one that works with my schedule. Especially since they have a few European flights under 500 right now

Absolutely worth it. The jet lag isn’t bad just going to Europe from the US. Do it!

I love rugby and do quick trips on a regular basis. Fly out on Wednesday night, arrive in city, explore city on Thursday and Friday, all day rugby Saturday, recover on Sunday while doing a little exploring.
Yes, you will be tired, but with a quick trip it forces you to get out and get on with it. So, I would not do it for relaxing, but you would have a great time.

In my opinion the only reason not to take short trips are if
A) the travel is more miserable for you than the enjoyment of seeing a new place, and/or
B) if the money spent will keep you from doing a better/longer/fuller trip in the near future

My wife and I are spending 5 days in Iceland next month and I think that’s a good amount of time.
Just depends on how many different places in Europe you’re trying to see. I would pick one location and stay there.

The absolute best time to travel Europe on a budget. I’ve done this 10+ days a few times for under $3500 including airfare. A few ways to save money if you plan on traveling around is to stay in Airbnb’s and purchase plane tickets when in country rather than buying them online here in the states.

5 days for me (even if two are travel days) is worth it for me.
It’s obviously a personal decision, but I can sleep like a mofo on planes so I’m ready to go once I hit the ground in Europe.
That would make half a day after my flight landed plus three more full days to run hard in (probably) just one city pretty good.
I don’t get jet lag either way so that factors in as well.

Totally worth it. Pick your city and stay there...see if you can get flight times that maximize your first day in country (and look for Air bnbs with early check in). Go for it.

5 days and doing it on the cheap I would go to Prague. My favorite city in Europe. Easiest city to travel around as well. Pretty much the cheapest city you can go to in Europe that is not a Eastern Bloc country.

It would be totally worth it if you're not counting an overnight flight as one of the days AND you stay in 1 city or general area.

Or think of it this way: would you drive 8 hrs each way to visit a US city or attraction for 4-5 days? People do this all the time to Disney in Orlando. I sure as hell would rather visit another country than go to Orlando/Disney. And it is cheaper, but you’d have a hard time convincing some people of this.

Thanks for the advice, all. Looks like the ridiculous fares are gone for the time being but I have approval from the Mrs to pull the trigger if they pop back up. I'll keep a look out for a fall trip.
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!

I would say yes it is worth it, but I would plan accordingly and not try and do a week long trip in 5 days. Savor what you're seeing and doing at a slight slower pace and I promise you won't regret not seeing [insert thing you didn't get to].
Also, not sure how set you are on Spain but it isn't the easiest country to jump from place to place because the train system kinda sucks. I would still do Spain though, it's one of my favorite places on Earth but I'd maybe not try and hit all three of those areas. Pick 1 or 2 and enjoy.
