I'll have about a week worth of PTO to burn by the end of year, where would you go?

Somewhere with good enough public transportation/taxi infrastructure so I can save on renting a car and not too terribly cold since it'll be in early December.

I think travel time to Asia will be too long to make the trip worth it, plus COVID entrance requirements still seem to be wacky in the more developed countries over there.

I was thinking Istanbul, Barcelona, or a Caribbean cruise (the cruise lines are offering some pretty great deals while still trying to get their business going again).

This will be a solo trip.

If you’d like to cruise, check out Norwegian’s solo cruiser cabins. The only catch is they’re all interior cabins.

Norwegian Encore tour (several Breakaway/Breakaway+ class ships have solo cabins):

Hop over to the cheap airfare thread and I can help you find something reasonably priced there . Or we can do it in this one, but it'll be a bunch of posts back and forth . Where do you want to originate for your flights?

South America is really a great idea. I've spent at least a week in each of Peru, Chile, and Argentina, and those have been great trips. I still have Ecuador and Colombia on my list, and I still don't know how to even start with Brazil (I've only been to Foz do Iguacu on the Argentine border).

Any of those places will be very affordable.

But I also love me some Istanbul, so ...

I'd go sit my arse on a beach somewhere...Costa Rica, Antigua and Barbuda, BVI, etc.

Yeah, I was looking at Dominica (not DR, but the other island called Dominica). It has great hiking and stuff but also some beautiful resorts.

But, I think I'm going to go with Mexico City and/or Oaxaca
