How terrible is Frontier and is it worth the hassle?

I have a few vacation days to burn and am considering a four day trip to Denver to visit some friends. Frontier has $75 round trip flights out of Lafayette. I’m aware of the added fees for baggage ($40 each way). You get a free “personal item,” so I think I can squeeze everything I need into a back pack for such a short trip.

Is the experience so bad as to not be worth it or should I pull the trigger?

It’s ok, you definitely get what you pay for but it’s not completely terrible. It’s kinda cramped and seats aren’t comfortable so I wouldn’t wanna be on a flight longer than 2 hours or so.

Don't be a wuss, it's not terrible. Be glad LFT got them, as they are extremely fortunate to get their service, so support it.

Frontier and Spirit have the newest fleet of planes of the 10 major air carriers, Delta is like a flying junkyard, that always outweighs free soda and peanuts when I pick a flight.

Yeah, Delta still operates some of the first MD88's, and early 757s and 767's out of the factory. They were the launch customer for the M88 in 1987.

Someone on here said it best...Spirit and Frontier are great until they're not. Basically, delays / cancellations are common and with so few flights, getting on another flight that doesnt severely change your plans doesnt always happen. KNow thats it's a common risk and you're fine.

That being said, I have had three direct flights out of NOLA on Spirit and one on Frontier and I have never had an issue BUT I have enough Southwest points that if I did have an issue I feel I can walk over there and get one something else soon if I needed to.

And never, ever fly either one of them if your route has a connection to your final destination.

I've never had a problem with frontier. Bring a deck of cards to use as a tray table as it is about the same size as the one on frontier planes.

It’s a direct flight and I’m not worried about being uncomfortable for a couple hours. Between a free place to crash and $75 flight, the deal is too good to pass up. Thanks for the advice y’all

They cancelled my flight the morning we were set to leave for Disney last year. With only one flight that day we had to scramble and make arrangements with another airline.

Flew Nola to Denver last summer. I had to check a bag, and paid $40 each way. My buddy only had a carry-on, and he never went about paying the $40, and had no issues at all. Just take a carry on and not pay either way.

Recently flew from Austin to Orlando. Both planes to and from were legit and clean. Flight to was 3 hours delayed to Orlando. When we landed at midnight we found out they lost our kids luggage. Had to buy new clothes and it took 3 days to get the luggage back. The flight home was delayed 5 hours. They refunded us for the clothes we bought and gave us some vouchers for our problems, that already expired. If you don't mind the risk of delays, it's not a bad deal. I've heard many other stories that are similar to mine.

I know in Houston I would never use it solely because the security line for the Spirit/Frontier terminal is miserable.

In the beginning of September, I flew From NOLA to Austin on Frontier. Round trip was $81 and I had a free place to stay. Packed everything in my backpack and had no issues with getting on or even hassled about my back pack. Flight was 45-55 minutes and it was fine. If you want food or drinks on board, you pay for it. I'd definitely fly frontier again if it's only for a short getaway.

Very well put, and whatever you do DO NOT CHECK A BAG WITH FRONTIER, they managed to "lose" my entire flights luggage from DEN to MSY recently, including gate checked strollers and wheelchairs.

I fly quite a bit and delayed bags are part of it, but after 10 days they still had no clue as to where anything was because they have no tracking system which is unacceptable.

To the OP, that flight may say $75 but it will be no where near that when you are finished, trust me once you start booking the tack on fees will add up pretty quickly.
