Last time I checked a bunch had 14 day quarantine orders. But then I believe I saw St Barth’s was saying they were open or going to be.

Bonaire is the only one I have checked on. They aren't letting anyone on the island until at least May 15. They only had a couple of cases are are Covid free.

Cuba is talking about opening in June, but I would stay away till at least Aug/Sept. The cases they have been reporting do not balance w their actions, nor w the behavior of the virus elsewhere. They will rush to open.

They kept inviting tourists to come while others were shutting down and when they got there, they put them in 14 days forced quarantine.

We have a vacation booked to the Dominican Republic in late June through July 4 but it's looking less and less likely they are going to have their resorts reopened by then. We may shift gears and go to Mexico if they reopen on June 1 as they're talking about doing.

Just keep in mind that if you're having problems getting goods locally it is not going to be better there.

I'm not trying to discourage you. You just need to go understanding what you're getting into. I'm talking about Mexico.

St. John is not open and they don't want tourists. Resources are limited and they have no care to give if someone gets sick. Was texting a friend there earlier this morning.

I'm in Natchitoches, La in what would be considered rural Louisiana. I honestly haven't had a problem getting anything. What items do you think would be a problem? We would be at an all inclusive resort so it would be the resort possibly encountering problems not me personally.

FYI, Delta is resuming direct flights to the Caribbean in July. We booked a trip to Antigua for a week. We have till June 4th to cancel, so we're going to wait and see how things play out.

I hope it works out for you. Antigua does still have a 14 day quarantine in effect for anyone flying into the country.

I'd recommend that anyone planning a trip bookmark this site and check it for up to date information.

So business as usual for St. John then?

We have a trip June 18 to Excellence Riviera Cancun. They are supposed to open the resort June 12, but I have my doubts.

My father in law spoke with someone there over the weekend and said they were expected to be open for business as usual on 6/1.

From what I can gather, this might be slightly incorrect. June 1st is the first date that businesses can open but will have certain restrictions (think about phase 1 where a restaurant or retail store can open but only at 25% capacity).

At least that's what the restaurant social media manager for The Beach Bar told me yesterday... LOL

ETA - flights to the USVI's are almost nonexistent as well, for the foreseeable future.

We aren't going to be traveling internationally until one of two thing happens:

US cases drop to levels much lower than we have currently.

or

A rapid and accurate test for Covid is developed that can be used to screen people before flights.

Emirates just cancelled my flight to go to Borneo in late July. I'm not all that confident about another trip in November.

Agreed. With the uncertainty right now we aren't even considering international travel.

Expecting a drop in the number of cases is ludicrous, and a terrible thought pattern. With more testing, you’ll inevitably have more cases. That’s the way this works. You should be thinking in terms of percentages - so % of new cases based on # tested. Also hospitalizations should be what everyone is concerned with... again, not the number of new cases.

I plan to travel as I typically would as soon as I can get comfortable that restaurants, bars, and activities in the places I want to go will be operating at least close to normal. That includes domestically and internationally.
