Either El tiempo in the loop for good Tex mex. I also like escalantes in highland village but it’s a little bougie. Good shopping in HV too could make it a lunch stop.

LaGriglia in River Oaks Shopping Center is also a favorite if you like Italian. And they have a good happy hour if you are there in time Friday night.

Adair kitchen would be a good brunch or lunch option and is near the galleria.

No bar suggestions because I’m 31 and it’s been a few years since I lived there.

Could always pop into the whole foods in the gallery area for their brewery. James there makes some good stuff. Close to galleria I would uber to montrose area for bars like Anvil and Poisongirl (divey but awesome). Also Haymerchant is in the area and good food and tap list.

State of Grace, Nancy's Hustle, UBPreserv, Riel, Nobie's, Giacomo's, Brasserie 19 is good for lunch/brunch, Local Foods(lunch), Hugo's or Caracol for brunch,

Goodnight Charlies, Present Company, Kirby Ice House, Cottonwood, Heights Bier Garden, Wooster's Garden, 8 Row Flint, La Grange....most of these suggestions are patio bars (this city loves a fricking patio bar) so if day drinking is your plan, knock yourself out...Goodnight has live bands most nights.

If you are wine drinkers, Camerata is tops.

If you're looking for cocktails, Julep, Public Services, Better Luck Tomorrow, Anvil, Poison Girl, High & Dry

Sit at the chef’s table and the chefs will let you try a bit of every dish they make. Best experience I’ve had at a chef’s table. Expect a 3 hour dinner and some great conversations. It holds up to 5 I think and is simply a private bar overlooking where they cook.

Some really good recommendations.

Food:
El Tiempo
Southern Goods
Hay Merchant (Good beers as well. More pub style)
Pinks Pizza - If the weather is nice go to McIntyres and order a pizza to be picked up by Favor or UberEats

Bars:
Bad News Bar (a bit tough to find as it’s a speakeasy downtown)
Heights Bier Garden
Kirby Ice House

I live in Katy and my brother lives near the Galleria area. Lots of great restaurants in the area.

Mastro's Steakhouse is near 610 and Post Oak. Great food and ambiance.

I'd do just about anything but this.

Dang. Didn’t know that.

I’ll add Coltivare to the list.
