I highly recommend this Airbnb we stayed in. airbnb.

It's about a 10 minute walk from old town and is a nice, big apartment above a bookstore that the owners of the Airbnb also own. It is across the street from an old cemetery that has people who fought in the revolutionary war buried in it. The place was very quiet and comfortable.

For hotels you can't get much more in the middle of things than the Hyatt Place. Holiday Inn was a little dumpy, may have been remodeling it though and the Residence Inn is fine, just a short walk.

Made a reservation at Hilton Garden Inn - Waterfront. It’s for my son and a friend that are flying up in May to see City & Colour in concert. That seemed to be a central location for walking around the Old Port area.

We stayed at The Press Hotel a few years back. At the edge of Old Port. Very nice, clean, and probably the best hotel shower I've ever taken.

Edited for spelling

We stayed at the Blind Tiger last October. Very cool vibe and centrally located for the most part.

In the summer the hotels ridiculously expensive, especially in the Old Port. My parents retired to Portland and it's a great city, but in the summer it is overrun with tourists. We've stayed at the Portland Regency when we've had to get a hotel and it's fine, but nothing special.

If the prices are ridiculous, I'd try to find an Airbnb on Munjoy Hill. It's a short walk down to the Old Port and is likely to be significantly less expensive.

I stayed there. Perfectly fine. HGI is always consistent.

I’ve stayed at the Portland Harbor Hotel and Portland Regency Hotel. Both were great but I prefer the location of Portland Harbor. Really close to Mash Tun, Street & Co, Central Provisions
