Curious how they are/were

similar to a AA or a Southwest?

Saw a few walking through the Keflavík airport but it appears they have a “look” for their flight attendants... not the butch gals

That’s all I got .

I haven’t yet but looking to book. They had RT from Houston under $300. Off peak season but that means Northern Lights season. I’m interested in reviews

I flew Icelandic air this year. It was equivalent to a normal airline. Each seat had a TV and it was very comfortable. Would absolutely recommend it. I’ve never flown a “budget” airline but from why I’ve heard about Spirit and WOW, Icelandic Air is nothing like them.

I have heard they cancel flights a lot more then other airlines. Friend had his flight canceled a couple of months ago.

Ya, girl I work with got the message they canceled the flight the day of departure. They had to rebook with Delta and drive to Dallas to make their trip.

The communication from the airline was all over the place. Started off with canceled and didn't offer a refund. She determined the flight appeared to depart so she figured they got booted. Eventually they offered the refund. Sounded like a PITA.

I went thru a booking process, and after ALL the fees they charge, it really isn't a $300-$450 flight.

They actually charge you extra for seats, and every bag costs a nice amount, no $20-$30 fee. You don't even get a carry on, you get a free brief case type bag, which is not enough for clothes.

I experienced literally none of this when I flew IcelandicAir.

They 100% did not charge us for seats.

I had my duffle bag with me and was not charged for it. Each seat had complimentary bottles of water upon arrival and they did not charge for any drinks outside of alcohol.

IcelandicAir

He's talking about WOW airlines, which is an Icelandic airline. Not IcelandicAir. Confusing

Oops. Definitely misread that. My bad.

OP, I was mistaken and talking about IcelandicAir, not WOW. From what I understand, WOW sucks, but I have no personal experience with them.

We flew Wow this summer. They were fine -- so long as you know what to expect. They are not like AA or Southwest. Think Spirit Airlines, instead. Handbag (not a regular carry-on) up to certain weight is permitted. Everything else is extra. Food/drink - extra. Choose your own seat - extra. We didn't pay extra for seats, but they sat our family together during online check-in. Pitch is tight on the seats, and I don't recall if the seats reclined at all. If they did, it wasn't much. Fortunately, we didn't have any irregular ops. with them, but there are some horror stories on the internet.

Flew on WOW from BWI to Reykjavik last year. I booked my NOLA to BWI on Southwest separately, as that gave me the best overall rate.

Had no problems with the WOW flight. Just the usual nickel and dime stuff during ticket purchase for baggage and seat selection similar to how Spirit (and seemingly the others these days) operate.

Its one thing if you are flying solo, but if you are flying with a significant other and want to sit together the 4 seat selections for a round trip really do add up on these budget airlines.
