Good honeymoon hotel in Atlanta?

I think you have two options...pick one thing to do the evening of your stay and book something near there OR stay near the airport to make things easy and just have a relaxing evening and departure morning.

Clermont Hotel. Cool rooms. Rooftop bar. Location right by Ponce City Market and the beltline.

Another option is the restored Candler, which has a lot of character and would have you closer to the airport. But it's downtown so your nearby options for the evening are going to be a bit more limited (and downtown isn't particularly desirable, although perhaps not as bad as some say). The Candler has a Hugh Acheson restaurant in it (Hugh is a dick) I had some high hopes for, but I've not heard much good about it other than the wine list.

The Clermont is similar to any cool boutique hotel, it's nice, tight, looks more inviting and luxurious on a website than it does in person. I've stayed in a lot of those all over the world, so I'm not dogging them, it's just the reality when you're trying to jam a high end hotel into a smallish existing space. Rooftop is cool though, and it's adjacent to plenty of semi-hip Atlanta stuff if that's how you want to spend your evening. It's definitely in a "cooler" area than Buckhead.

I like the St. Regis because it's big, swanky and adjacent to the traditional Buckhead stuff (steakhouses, etc.). You can walk from the St. Regis to some pretty good restaurants, although Chops being closed hampers that some (it's the closest and a very good option). St. Regis also has perhaps the most upscale bar in the city, if you're into that. There are a number of nice hotels in Buckhead if you want to go that route but want a bit lower rate.

Four Seasons in Midtown is a rock solid hotel and one I've stayed at several times (even though I live here), but not sure midtown holds appeal for a night like this. We've had some friends enjoy the Georgian Terrace (across from Fox) over the years, and it's a more interesting hotel, but I'm not sure it's being managed well of late.

That would be a great spot, imo. Plenty of good food spots to walk to or a short uber.

There's a Loew's not far from there. Probably not in the Four Seasons/St Regis/Ritz realm, but very nice in a good location.

I didn't see the Westin Peachtree Plaza mentioned. It's in the heart of downtown, but if you're just there for the night, you can eat in the Sundial restaurant at the top. I've never eaten there, but it's a rotating restaurant at the top of the hotel, which is 73 stories high. You really can't get that kind of view of the city and the surrounding areas anywhere else in town.

Two other ideas that aren't going to be as convenient, but with a little planning you can make it work.

The Ritz at Lake Oconee. Probably a 1.5 drive to the airport.

They have a really nice inn and quite a few private cottages to stay in. Really good restaurant on site. Maybe a 30 minute drive to the airport from there.
