I see a lot of YouTube videos of couples and families that tour the country full time in an RV/ 5th wheel. Most have done this for years. How do they make money to be able to do it? It seems like it would be a great adventure.

A lot of RV parks allow you to work part time for your rent. Add in some savings, right planning, and some part time work and it wouldn't be that hard to live under a real tight budget.

Do you really like people? I'd try renting an RV and doing it for two weeks to one place.

Where we kept our boat there was an adjacent RV park and my husband was working on our boat (Katrina damage) and he heard some of the RVers tell the same story night after night after night.

We used to camp, and there was the night that the 'slow' adult child decided to lock his parents out of their RV. Two hours of screaming later.....

Sounds of silence get hard to come by with all eight close-by RVs all running their airconditioners and their TVs.

I’d rather boon-dock somewhere I could have peace. There is so much to see and so little time to see it.

I have read online that some people save up their money, sell their home/cars, buy a truck and 5th wheel and travel on the money, working online for extra.

Then, when they are ready to, they sell the truck/5th wheel and settle back down.

If you sold your house, only had one vehicle, and no home bills you could cut your expenses pretty extensively.

I think I'd rather get an overland van so I wouldn't be contained to RV parks and so I could get out on public land. There's weird people in RV parks.

Some of them have followers on social media, and they make money from sponsored posts that include products, get free parts/repairs, etc.

Here's one of several articles on the topic. It was the first time I heard about it. New Yorker

If you haven’t already, I’d suggest watching “Destination Happiness” on Netflix.

Stick to the popular seasons in popular areas and you will never find an issue with working.

Once you get out the south every damn place you see has help wanted signs in the window and seasonal help is easy peasy.

Wife and I have considered it as I will be semi-retiring soon and have quite a while to go before pension kicks in along with 401k and SS.

Just enjoy life and goof around a while

Issue is very young grandchildren and wife cant go 2 days without seeing them

Exactly. I've spent a couple of summers in a VW camper van and would much rather have a van or truck camper than a large RV. I may go full time in a few years and am considering one of those rigs that sit it the back of a truck and can be jacked up and left at a site.

There are some people who do seasonal work for Amazon & also the sugar beet harvest. (Apparently, it’s a thing).

yikes

More like wait a few tables and sling some tshirts, not looking to compete with the Mexicans for itinerant labor jobs.

The youtubers look like they stay in the southwest during the winter, staying on public land for weeks at a time. When the weather warms they start traveling to Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana etc.
