Flying spirit for the first time tomorrow, what do I have to expect?

Saved a ton of $$$. I heard it’s not so bad anymore.

Did you pay for the first seat? It’s totally worth it

Read all the instructions before you go to the airport and dont break any of the rules. Should be fine.

You've heard wrong.

I've never done it, but I've heard it is horrific.
They climb and descend altitude faster to save fuel, they nickel and dime carry ons, no drink service, and worst of all you're trapped in a metal tube with the dumbest, trashiest, nastiest people America has to offer.

All of these responses are idiotic. The worst flight experience is being stuffed in the tiny 3 row seats in economy on any major airliner.
Spirit fricks you but you know that going in so price check and if it’s the same price, and you don’t need a carry on, it’s a better experience to select the first two rows which feel like first class lite than any other airline’s economy seat.

You better hope they don’t cancel your flight. You’ll be offered a voucher or the next day’s flight.
I heard about a guy whose flight got cancelled three days in a row before he told them to shove it and took a bus.

Flew Spirit once. Paid to pick my seat and for a carry-on. Still saved a shite ton of money. It wasn't that bad.

Flew American last week had a flight cancelled and my bags lost twice. Booked a Spirit flight Monday for a flight Monday night and was able to get a big seat for $12 dollars, flight was on time and arrived 15 minutes early, and was able to get an earlier return flight home on Tuesday for $99 with a big exit seat (even the upgrades it was $100 cheaper than Southwest).
The haters in this thread either all have no experience or one experience. I personally take them probably a few times a month and have literally had no trouble ever.

Have flown Spirit many times to South America. Flying with them again next month to Peru. Never had any issues other than one flight delay. Super cheap flight. And they give two checked bags for military.

Can't remember if its Ryan Air or Spirit, but you may have to print your boarding pass beforehand.

this is the biggest scenario I would NEVER do with Spirit.
if you have to take one domestic flight with no connections, Spirit is fine.
If you have to take an international flight with a connection, you are playing with fire.
Spirit is notorious for cancelling those flights once you get to your connection and just leaving people stranded. There are a ton of documented cases.
Happened to me, and was a truly miserable experience.

You can fly AA from Chicago to NOLA and find them

Pay for the Big Seat up front. Bring purell. Pay for you bags and all ahead. You’ll be fine. Unless it rains.

Not as bad as the rep it gets. However two of the last times I've flown I was actually impressed grab arse thats allowed to go on.
Last time I flew Spirit into MSY, a few rows of people were standing up taking pulls from a fifth of Tito's the whole flight. I couldn't begin to tell you where it came from but it was amusing to watch.
Flying out of MSY on a Sunday a few weeks ago, this child simply refused to buckle up. The mother had purple hair and both parent's arm sleeve tats. Neither could get him to sit down and buckle for takeoff. The flight attendant came by insisting and nobody could get this 3-4 yo to corporate. Much to my surprise, they let the kid go about his business. Never seen anything like it on a flight. Little shite squealed and climbed on seats like a jungle gym the whole way.
These are just two examples but it seems like every time I've flown, the clientele is a bit rougher around the edges and bizarre shite like this goes down. Good luck

My son, his gf and I flew to New York at the beginning of the year on Spirit. The plan was new and clean. Honestly would prefer that to Southwest or those commuter planes for Delta, united, etc.

I flew it last week from MSY to Boston. And then back
Both were on time. Even early coming back.

I'll be on Sprint for the first time in a few weeks, flying MCO-MSY (Flying Frontier there, but they don't have a Sunday flight back).
I've flown Frontier a few times, so if Sprint is similar, should be fine.
Quick trip so just flying with a backpack.
