I’ve been coming here numerous years. Always has been great. They’re going above and beyond w/ the Covid bs.

My complaint lies within the clientele. It’s gone downhill. Might as well be Golden Nugget crowd in LC.

Rivera Maya already had a lot of the Golden Nugget crowd. Stimulus plus not being able to travel for a year has amped that up.

We flew DFW to CUN on American to head over to Isla Mujeres a couple of weeks ago. Felt like I was on a Spirit flight.

Went to a "high end" AI in the area about 8 years ago. Never again. We still travel to the area, but stay at places that price out the GN crowd.

Call me what you will, but I'm not going on vacation to be around those people.

I don’t understand the complaint about the COVID BS. We were at an excellence property a month ago and there weren’t any restrictions. The new clientele part though is absolutely true. Good deals and stimmy checks are the reason for it

I’m not talking about restrictions. I’m talking about how well the staff is doing w the mask bs in 95 deg heat. They’ve been great as usual.

I’ve never seen people smoke cigarettes here and now there’s always a few. Prices are still around $500/ night. No one from the UK or Canada. Different feel than year’s past.

I've been trying to get a reservation for Oct/Nov and all that seems to be available is the Jr. suite with pool/spa view. Really wanted the EC swim up suite.
I booked at Riviera since they had the room type available and now I'm nervous about that choice after reading this thread.

If you’ve never been to one then don’t sweat it - keep the res.

You have any more (good) pics of that place you can share? I've been thinking about booking a trip there and taking a couple of day trips over to Isla as well.

Sounds like you did a very poor job of planning, calling ahead to set expectations

I didn't know you could call ahead to get the "Marlboro smoking white-trash quotient" from the property. Will do in the future.

I think our boy just read the part in the OP about Covid stuff and didn't read the rest of the post.

I'm staying at the Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort in Riviera Maya in September for a long weekend (friend wedding). Sounds like I should be expecting some trash walking around?

Couldn’t get Excellence Club early August so we booked at the Iberostar Grande. Came in at about the same price. Heard it’s a nice place.

Just got back from Beaches in Turks and Caicos... 2nd time, excellent experience, but they had the poor staff walking around in 90 degree heat outside.... so stupid.

We just got back Excellence Riviera Cancun. EPM didn’t have availability on the dates we wanted to go and ERC was a good bit cheaper. I upgraded our room from a regular junior suite to an ocean view excellence club after seeing this thread. We thought it was worth it for the room location and excellence club pool. The pool was less crowded and had more available chairs in the shade. The wait staff had less people to serve so I felt like we got our drinks refilled sooner than what we when we went to EPM at the main pool. We never used the EC lounge. The only time we used the alcohol in the room was to add more alcohol to our drinks.
