Any of you well educated folks ever traveled or spent time in Dubai?

What can one expect? What to watch out for? Any advice will be appreciated.

I'm sure there's others that have been spent a lot more time there than I have, but I've been a couple times. There's some cool things to see, but not really my cup of tea. I've been in June and early September - HOT. I did see the Burj Khalifa from the mall, drove out on the Palm and typical tourist stuff on short time. You can only drink in hotels, for the most part. As far as things to watch out for, just don't be obnoxious and drunk in public.

Been a bunch but not in the past 4 years. I’m sure it’s the same ex-COVID impacts. Lots to do, very touristy and business focused. As mentioned the hotels get a lot of flexibility on alcohol and clubs. A bit on the expensive side but not horrible.

I went in September several years ago. The thing that I remember the most was the heat. It was incredibly hot and humid, over 110 with NOLA type humidity.

Where’s the fun if I can’t get tipsy and make out with a Muslim girl?

Depends. Are you going by yourself? Are you married, single?

Can't find alcohol unless you're staying at a foreign hotel .

Mall of the Emirates is cool. Old town/Golden Suke too;

If you're going with a gf, make sure she wears a wedding/engagement ring as to not get hassled ( I didn't when I went with my gf at the time)

Anything else let me know

I’ve been to the mall, burj khalifa, and the Atlantis water park. I drove from Abu Dhabi a few times. Any budget should find what they’re looking for.

That was a few years ago though. Not sure how they are now with covid bullshite.

Don’t be drunk in public, don’t be part of a scene, and if you’re driving stay out of the left lane on highways or you will get torpedoed over.

Nonsense. We did plenty of this when I was in the UAE for work. Dubai goes hard if you know where to go

Just be prepared to spend out the arse on your bar tab

Also the Burj Khalifa is definitely a must see. We got the VIP tickets which let you go up higher than the main viewing deck and it isn't nearly as crowded. You get to go up to something like the 148th floor where the main crowd only goes to the 125th floor or something like that. I could have spent all day up there

The main observation deck is on the 122nd floor. The wife and a group of friends went a few years back. I've been to Abu Dhabi/Jebel Ali/Dubai about a dozen times. Dubai as it is now didn't exist when I was last there. Mostly the place was a ribbon of black asphalt cutting through the desert.
