Nothing im reading is moving the needle towards this being a good decision with two kids (5 and 3). Anybody wanna convince me? We would probably stay at either Coronado Springs or Caribbean Beach. Looks like we cant even get a ticket for hollywood studios.
We still had a good time (kids 10 and 5), but the absence of the stage stuff and characters makes it a tough sell for ages 3 and 5. Hollywood Studios was terrible. Way too crowded. I got a very detailed survey to fill out from that park and unloaded pretty good about it. Whether it does any good or not to complain I don’t know, but they are terribly overselling reservations there for what they have to offer currently. And I say that with it being my favorite park of the 4.

They haven't increased the allowed capacity in the parks, the difference is they are closer to the capacity they are allowing and they havent increased manpower or attraction capacity.
So you have more people in the parks with the same amount of staff allowing the same amount of people per hour on the same attractions, wait times will be longer but the hours have been extended so there are more opportunities to arrive early and stay later.

One thing I noticed when planning our trip is HS completely booked up for the days of our trip for ticket and resort guests, but opened back up then filled again. Made me wonder if they didn’t open up additional capacity for it. Of course they could’ve shifted some pass reservations that might not have been filled. Based on the lines and the survey I was assuming they may have just increased it after it filled up initially.

Plenty of people are still canceling last minute in hopes rules change. So they open up more tickets. Capacity is still the same.
Another things slowing down lines is that rides are cleaned every hour or two. So the rides is stopped for a bout 10-15 minutes.
Overall, I think if I had to plan it again, I wouldn't have gone this year. Our son is 6 and when all there is available to do in the parks is ride the rides and watch characters go by on a float, it's a little boring compared to most years. No fireworks, no real parades, no character meals, can't really browse in shops. Open late. Close early. Thank god we stayed at Beach Club and Stormalong Bay was open. Being able to swim in the evenings when parks closed at 5 or 6 was a huge lifesaver. No mask required in the pool area either.

I promise you they are letting more people in and slowly increasing. The cast members will tell you. I went and raised hell with the main office in Hollywood Studios and the guest assistant/trip advisor admitted as much. She even offered to scan our wrist bans to allow us through the standby entrances, but it was too late. They wouldn’t do a damn thing about Rise of the resistance though.

quote:I don't think you realize what "capacity" means in Disney. In regular times, it only happens 2 or 3 days a year. 25% of that is still a huge amount of people. I touched on it in my last post, but what you're seeing is the ride times don't coincide with the number of people you see walking around, at least not by normal standards. That's because no one is sitting in shows... no one is sitting down to eat... no one is crowding main street to see a parade... no one is crowding around the castle for a show or fireworks... no one is taking their time shopping for merch. So EVERYONE you see is basically there to ride the few rides available. If you see people walking, it's simply from one ride to the next. There's nothing in between anymore.
I promise you they are letting more people in and slowly increasing.
I'm not really sure what you raised hell about. And I can't believe you are being kind of a bitch about RotR. Everyone knows how difficult it is to get in the virtual queue. You have to be right on the dot at 10:00 ready to go. I remember doing it and getting in group 46 and thinking how the hell did hundreds of people get ahead of me. There were people around me cheering. I'm sorry you didn't get it for your family, but again, this is where we are. Rides are just about the only option so it sucks when you miss out on a big one like that. But I'm not really sure what you expected the cast member to do. They probably get hundreds of people coming in every week complaining about not getting that ride. Imagine days where the app is fricking up.

Because they said they were only allowing 25% in (the reason for the reservation to each park). That is only what the lines and rides can handle because of the social distancing. They (personally in their own words) told me they are allowing more than 50% and increasing it a little each week. That is wrong if the park can only handle 25% in this current state. They told me the only reason for the queue for ROTR is because the park doesn’t have room for the line. They should make room for the line or cut capacity back down or allow you to reserve ROTR when you make your reservation. It’s pure bullshite they hit you with a lottery after you are already in the park.

Counted down to second twice to get in the Ride of the Resistance queue with no luck. Now three kids get to fly home without doing it.
Sorry man. If it makes you feel any better, we felt like the Slinky Dog and Mickey rides were both better.

Mickey’s Runaway Railway was impressive! It’s worth the wait.

Hope you made it on ROTR. Just made it back home to BR. My face still feels like I have a mask on. Kinda having flashbacks and I'm checking over my should to see I they are watching.

My kids both had a blast when they were 3, but that was with the stage stuff and characters.

I went about 3 weeks ago to MK and HS and rode pretty much everything with the exception of one or two rides. Even rode Runaway RR twice.
We did make it. It was pretty cool, not an hour and a half cool but cool and different. We didn’t get a time for the rise of the resistance either but no one was upset about it from my crew.
Tomorrow is our last day and is at animal kingdom. Mrs wants to rope drop to get on Everest and jungle safari, she says that the flight of passage wait times are normally lower in the afternoon from her research. I just want to go home. Frick this place. I’m so over it. I used to be a pretty big fan, even considered vacation club fairly seriously.

We rode it like 6 times. Was easily our favorite new ride at Disney. Our longest wait was when we got to the ride and they stopped us to clean every vehicle. There must be many more people there now than there were in August.
ETA: We went to Hollywood Studios on two separate days, and got on ROTR both days. I got in the top 5 boarding groups on both attempts by using time.is to find out what the exact time was (my phone clock was always off) and then clicking the boarding pass link right at time. It is a good ride, but I feel like the hype wouldn't be as high for it if they weren't doing the boarding passes.

We didn’t ride Runaway railway. We entered the park before opening and the line was up to an hour and a half even before opening.
Rise of the resistance was good, but I expected more. Didn’t realize that most of the ride time was actually time you were basically just standing in line.

I was pissed but over it now. It's clear they are letting too many people in now with every other seat blocked off on the rides, but it is what it is. We were able to catch Rocking Rollercoaster twice after the rain Monday. We did the same for Avatar Flight Sunday after the rain.
It's right on the cusp if you absolutely have to see Disney...if it's your first trip, I would wait to get the full experience because the wait times are back anyway. My kids were a little disappointed to not see the staging part of some of the rides...especially Haunted Mansion. My middle son was mad about the recording studio in Rocking Rollercoaster.
