Hederson is nice, but not directly beachside. They have transportation the short distance to the beach though.

Are you sure? I thought it was right on the beach. Never stayed there, but have eaten at the restaurant and I swear we sat on the deck looking out at the gulf.

Ahh, I see now. My apologies. I was reading the thread in order and failed to see who the response was to.

There aren't many "nice" hotels in Destin proper that I know off. Someone correctly if I'm wrong on that please as I'm drawing a blank.

Sandestin has a pretty good Hilton Resort.
Down 30A the Water Color Inn and The Pearl are very nice.

The Henderson is really nice. It's only been open a couple of years. Way nicer than the Sandestin, though it's been a while since I've been to the Sandestin. It was pretty dated last time I was there.

Gotcha. I had in my mind that they were a little more east. I just looked at the map and I was wrong.

Condo, not a hotel. We have stayed at Holiday Surf and Racquet Club for 9 years. We just got back Sunday. It is more family oriented, there are no restaurants or bars on the property but it is close to most places. It is on the gulf side of Gulf Shore Blvd., walk to the beach. Each room includes 2 chairs and umbrella set up daily. The rooms are clean and up to date furnishings. Every room faces the gulf.
