I know people who never left Louisiana but none that never left a city. I had one friend who never traveled but we "kidnapped" him and forced him on a road trip through Texas.

The only place on the beach in Destin that has more than 2 rows is maybe by the Pelican

Silver Shells has 4 condo complexes and only has 2 rows even during the 4th

I appreciate all the input.
I'm kinda leaning towards Okaloosa Island. I was unaware of the height restrictions and if it is less crowded, I'm all for that. It's in between OB and Destin. So we could ride over to Destin for shopping and eating a couple times.

We've never been to Okaloosa island so it will be somewhere a little different and if the water is a little better than OB, that would be a plus.

Okaloosa is a ways from Orange Beach. I personally prefer Navarre to Okalossa to avoid the extra traffic but again, I don't want people, traffic, bars, restaurants, etc. If that's what you're looking for, the further East or West you are (either closer to Pensacola or closer to Destin), the better.

LSUfan4444, I don't need the bars, I have a teen and pre-teen, so that's not needed. Some good eateries would be nice. Looking at the maps and the big condos in Navarre it looks like it could get crowded on the beach.
The beach crowd is what I don't care for. So the less people on the beach the better.

I think one of these 2 will likely be the place. Navarre or Okaloosa

Navarre is pretty light on food options that are worth a damn.

couple nice seafood places in OB (the upstairs/downstairs fish place comes to mind..last time we went there we made friends with a guy who took us out on his boat that was parked 10 feet away from the restaurant) and our little ones LOVE the foam canon and culvert at the hangout as well as the go karts about 1/2 mile away..even the hippie mini golf where there's no one around and just a QR code at the entrance that says "just figure out what you owe and pay here".

then there's that overpriced area about 3 miles away with the giant ferris wheel and that restaurant right on the canal with 2 or 3 playgrounds and multiple levels.

drawing blanks on all the names here but this area is small so you can't miss them.

i can't tell you how much fun it is to go hit a few places during the day then come back to FM and hit the sassy bass for some navy cove oysters (MAILMAN TYFYS ) and beach drinks and watch the sun set or grab 10lbs of crawfish from Rouses on the way back and sit on the balcony overlooking the ocean and slam mud bugs and beer.

so fricking chill. i want to go there now. the older i get the less i enjoy crowds so the more appealling this area is to me.

so the water is a little brown most of the year..so fricking what. the beach is still clean and fun and we end up at the pool most of the time anyway so fight me.

Yep been there. It was pretty good stuff. I remember liking Pompano Joes years ago on the beach. But that may have been the hurricane influencing my senses. LOL.

So i'll have to try out the Sassy Bass.

We just got back from Pensacola Beach and the water was pretty. Like the guy above me said it gets better the further east you go, but it definitely wasn’t brown.
Big Pensacola fan. The beaches and water are great but aren’t nearly as crowded as Destin, 30a, or Gulf Shores. The water is very hit or miss in Gulf Shores. I was in Ft Morgan 2 summers ago and the water was brown and the beach was pretty crappy (compared to the rest of the panhandle)

Plus it’s basically a 3hr drive from where I live.

The only real complaint I had with Pensacola Beach is OBA and Destin have better golf options.

Just beware that the Brooks Bridge from FWB to the island is under construction so delays and accidents are common.

Orange beach and gulf shores have it all but if you stay on east side of Gulf shores and west side of orange beach you have perception. Good beaches, fun people, not crowded and access to upscale and downscale and incredible biking and walking trails at the Gulf State Park. You can find a condo on far west side of GS that gives you state beach and almost a mile of dunes to the east and people and action to the west. And walking distance to the east ti a great fishing pier.
