Throwing a little trip together for my GFs birthday this weekend. Today I saw plane tickets to Denver are crazy cheap 300$ for the pair after all fees. Staying near the City Center. What would be some recommendations on things to do for a couple in there mid twenties. Going see the mountains is one thing I want to do obviously, so recommendations on trails would be awesome as well.

Thanks in advance

Download the All Trails app and find a trail that suits you and your hiking experience.

Denver always has live music going on so look and see if there’s something you like. You’ll need to rent a car to “go see the mountains” but small towns like Idaho springs, Morrison, evergreen etc are close by

if it’s your thing, the weed is really really good

It’s winter so definitely download all trails and check for closed trails due to snow. My favorite winter trail to take guests is St Mary’s glacier. It’s always open even in the winter. Good views along the way too. It’s about an hour from Denver to the trail head.

I’m going out of town this weekend. I’ll rent ya my place for the weekend. It’s downtown

Weather looks like it should be pretty good for this weekend. Ive never really hiked before but we both stay active so any trail thats not to tough should be good. Would love to go in the mountains because Ive never seen them before

Play it safe and go to St Mary’s glacier. It’ll get you in the mountains. It’s an easy hike through the woods. Just take water. Pull over at the Genesse Park exit if you see the buffalo on the right side(if you’re going west). I still get chills when passing this exit because the mountains finally open up.

Don’t spend too much time on the 16th street mall. You’ll end up hating Denver and wondering what all the fuss was about.

You've never really hiked before? Well get out into the front range, and really blow your mind. I second the St. Mary's Glacier hike.

I'm from baton Rouge, so the extent of my experience is Tunica Hills and 15 miles aorund campus on gamedays. And what do you mean by the Front Range?

I gotcha, well, you are in for some great times. I'm excited for you.

The front range is the closest range of the Rockies to Denver, so that will be where you go if you go into the mountains to hike.

Drink alot of water as the altitude may take some getting used to.

Dfw to Denver is super cheap and always so tempting to get away, and only a 75-80 minute flight.

Last summer I got 4 round trip tickets on United for $88 each.

Lots of fun bars in the Lodo area, my favorites are 1up and Ginn Mill. Also check out Station 26 Brewing, damn good beer.

St. Mary's Glacier is fun. You may get out of breath, but I'm 57 and hiked it last summer, so you should be fine. Bring some trash bags to slide down the glacier. It's fun. There may even be folks snow boarding on it.

RINO is the cool place with lots of bars and restaurants. Lots of dispensaries near there. Tons of breweries in the area. The Blue Moon Brewery is pretty close.

I think you can drive out and see Red Rocks as well. It's beautiful.

Drink lots of water. It's so dry there.
