Wanting to take the family to Colorado this summer and trying to decide where to go. Kids are ages 6 & 9 so looking for a place with kid friendly activities and nice scenery. Never been to colorado in the summer. Budget is not a huge issue, but I don't need to stay at the St. Regis in Aspen either. Plan is to either fly into Denver or just drive from Baton Rouge, depending on timing.

THanks

Estes Park. Leadville is a cool old mining town.

you can fly into Denver and then rent a car and dive to Frisco. From there, you have the lake, Breck, Keyston, etc. I love it up there in the summer.

We drove a few years back with kids.. hit up Carlsbad Caverns on the way .. ended up staying in the Salida/Buena Vista area.. no regrets.. hiking, rafting, atv ride, hot springs .. also went to the Royal Gorge

Colorado is a lot like Bavaria.

If you’re driving I’d choose Telluride. It’s a little more difficult to get to by air and also more pricey for flights. If flying to Denver, then Breckenridge is your spot.

Glenwood Springs is nice for the kids and Aspen is a close drive. Hot springs, whitewater rafting, hike Maroon Bells which is the most or one of the most photographed places in the world. Gondola to an amusement park on Glenwood, etc

No bad place to vacation in Colorado in my opinion. Look into Durango in SW Colorado. Among the many things to do are the DSNGRR train, kids will love it. There is the Bar D chuck wagon dinner and show...family friendly. Mesa Verde NP is an hour away. Check it out...we always have a great time there.

Done this twice in the last few years in late summer/early fall. Fly into Denver and drive out to Winter Park area. Winter Park about 1.5 hours from airport and is central to a lot of great places. Grand Lake on west entrance to RMNP is great. Kids that age would also like the Georgetown Loop railroad. Needless to say, lots of great outdoor options.

Aspen. Tons of outdoor activities for the family, and they also have a nice indoor water park.

Get a cabin at the YMCA in Estes Park. Tons of activities that are perfect for kids.
