Sounds like a busy back and forth between time zones for you the next week. Anything specific planned in Vegas?

I'll keep an eye out on Chicago but expect a waiver to be posted soon. I'll try to post whatever waivers I can find today (I know there's one for Seattle and Portland up already) but today is my first day seeing the sun in a while so I'll be on the beach for most of it

Just a quick trip out for the wife's birthday. Have a couple dinner reservations and planning to see Absinthe tomorrow night, but other than that we really have no plan.

Also, the new T3 SkyClub at LAX is gorgeous

Get stagerow row a seats 5-6 at the mad apple show. They are cheap but a unique view of a show. Almost feels like you are in the show.

Had 3 delays getting out of ellick, not weather related. Fortunately had 3.5 hours to kill (originally) in DFW but that was reduced to roughly 45 mins. Fortunately zero issues with the connection. Looked like a rough day if you were trying to get to the PNW or great lakes. Safe travels to everyone

Back in DFW after flying LAS-LAX-DFW, DL cancelled a couple of random flights (LAX-IAH, LAX-PDX, LAS-SLC) but thankfully our trip went off without a hitch

Lots of planes today. 2 domestics flights in Japan. From Tokyo to ATL with the Br flight delayed forever. Made it back at 1am. 30+hours of travel and now I can't sleep

Moved up our flight out of Chicago (to NYC) a day early to 12/22... Got out before the weather hit with no delays... fortunate! NYC is cold, but warmer than home!

Of course it appears my original itinerary through Chicago would have went off without much of a hitch today, though one HVAC coincidentally died so my flight change gave me a chance to fix it and move Christmas to my in-laws.

Flying West Palm to Atlanta to Seattle tomorrow. The flight after mine for PBI-ATL has already cancelled so now my flight is showing as Y0 (sold out). The flight after mine for ATL-SEA has also cancelled already so that flight is also sold out (possibly oversold). The next available flight to Seattle for booking is Thursday 12/29 . Will update this thread tomorrow and see what offers Delta is giving, minimum of $1000 to get me off either of the flights

When I got to airport this morning, they announced that due to the storms, they didn't have enough crew to operate the original plane and were downgraded to a smaller plane with 30 less seats. 30 people showed up to he airport finding out they were fricked.

So it was voucher city. Tried to bump my infant to a lap child to get the cash, but it was such a mad house and took me so long to get to counter the gate attendant was worried he'd mess up the whole itinerary.

Sounds like you had quite the adventure today. Sounds like CuseTiger may be in for a white knuckle travel day tomorrow as well.

Complete cluster today. Headed out of ATX on SWA this morning at 10am. Flight was delayed 1 hour, sat on the tarmac for an hour and upon arrival sat again for 40 minutes due to lack of a gate. My 4:00 pm flight from DIA to COS was delayed about 4 or 5 times and eventually cancelled around 5:30 pm with no offer to rebook. No cars to rent anywhere. Ended Ubering back to the springs. I have to work early and hell no not sleeping on the airport floor. Cost $200 and tipped the dude an extra $100 for even being out on Christmas night. What a shite travel day. Its faster to drive the trip and thats what I will be resuming. Screw airlines. Oversell and just give you credit.

Southwest to Denver, you should be glad they even got you out of AUS. Their operation has been a mess the last couple of days.

Southwest Declares "State of Operational Emergency" in Denver

quote:

While airlines around the country are having operational challenges, nothing is quite as bad as Southwest Airlines’ situation in Denver. The airline has declared a state of emergency, and is threatening to terminate ramp employees for any of a number of reasons. This includes if they call in sick but don’t get a doctor’s note from an in-person visit, or even if they need to take a personal absence.

I hear you. Denver was terrible. Strange thing was at my gate, there were at least 2 flight crews standing around. They seemed as confused as the rest of us. I sat there 2 hours staring out the window at rows of planes at the gates just sitting there with lights out. Its like they just said screw it, we'll figure it out tomorrow. We travel SWA a few times a month between ATX and DIA and its been very poor even on regular non holiday weekday. I don't have the feeling of loyalty I used to with SWA.

From what I saw, the issue with WN in Denver was they didn't have enough ramp crew. A TPA-DEN flight turned around somewhere over Oklahoma and went back because they didn't have anybody to unload the plane in Denver

In other news I'm in the text queue for Alaska Airlines for an upcoming trip. Estimated wait time 23 minutes. At 40 minutes I take a 2 minute shower and miss the attendant

Hotel bathroom fan was loud AF I couldn't hear my phone. Back in the queue estimated time was 45 minutes. I'm at 1:45 waiting. I done messed up. Been up since 3:30am. Flew with two kids 4 and younger, did Christmas dinner etc. This is hour 19 awake. I'm gonna see this through.

Thanks but I'm where I should be, just over here crossing streams trying to address a different deal that's six months out since I'm bored.

Booked a flight to Hawaii via LAX on Alaska. Alaska was apparently starting up service to Hawaii from LAX.

I say WAS because I get a "schedule change" alert in the app that says I have to call them. Didn't want to deal with it. Also, the term "schedule change" was kind of... misleading!

Yesterday I look into it. Well, before flying the Hawaii route once they decided to get rid of it. At the same time the stopped service from my airport to LAX. Double whammy

The price I got was awesome when I booked so I'm hoping they put me on a similar route via Seattle. If they don't rebooking 6 people gonna cost me some change.

As an update, my two minute shower has now cost me over two hours. I'm pretty sure they all went home.

Update: somehow hacked the phone tree and got a callback in 5 minutes? This was after being quoted 8 hours and 3.5 hour hold times. Went back in needing "website help."

Man, why put yourself through that torture? Don't call the airlines when they're dealing with the apocalypse . Give it 2 weeks and call back once this holiday travel clears. And yes they will re-route you for free through Portland or Seattle given they cancelled your flights. Find the flights you want beforehand and feed them the flight numbers.

As far as my travel plans today, still showing sold out for West Palm to Atlanta (15 seats left, 15 on the list) and Atlanta to Seattle (14 seats left, 18 on the list). Have a feeling ATL-SEA is at least oversold by 4 possibly more given those numbers. Surprisingly I am flexible and have my work computer with me so can work remote this week if they need volunteers. Will provide play-by-play updates today for the boards entertainment
