Last time we stayed at Sofitel which was very convenient. But there are a ton of good options in that area. It's not that close to Wrigley, mind you, but it's easy enough.

I think we price lined it, so you might consider nailing down a limited area and going for 4+ and 5 star hotels.

If you want cheap, decent shape, and great location. Club Quarters.

We stayed at Hotel Indigo in Sept. The L was only a block away and we took it to the game.

Oh and while the hotel was reasonable, the parking was $45 a night for our rental. We had a rental car because we were heading to Green Bay for the LSU game. I wouldn't get a rental car if just going to Chicago.

If visiting, find a hotel in River North, enjoy the downtown scene, and take the Red Line north to Addison for the Cubs game.

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown on E Grand Ave when we went in August. You literally walk outside the hotel and across the street is the Grand subway station that will get you to Wrigley in 10 minutes or so (approximately 5 stops). It wasn't bad at all and the hotel was very nice for the price.

If you stay in the loop you're a short train ride away from Wrigley. I would second river north.

The Silversmith was a really awesome hotel. Great location. Not exactly near Wrigley but it's right near the train and near a bunch of great stuff in walking distance.

If stay on Michigan near the river to be close to everything and just take the subway to Wrigley for the game. I've stayed at a few places near there through Marriott using points so it depends what brand you like. The Marriott was remodeled last year and it's a great location.

I also stayed at the Silversmith and really liked it. Easy to walk around downtown, not hard to get to Wrigley. There are so many Lyft and Uber drivers around if don't want to deal with mass transit.

Palmer House or the Wit. Both are on State Street with easy access to the redline which will take you north to Wrigley or South to Comisky.
