Flying to DFW from MSY

Booking 1 way it is $170

However if I book MSY- PHX connecting through DFW it is $99

Is there anything they can do about me just not getting on my connecting flight in DFW? Obviously wouldnt check a bag.

Will book both departing and returning flights separately as one way so they cant cancel my itinerary.

They get mad about it, there was a website that specialized in doing these fares that airlines tried to get shutdown.

Never heard it was illegal, maybe they could put your name on a list though.

i mean, what would they do if you were legit late getting there? They'd be in the air without a second thought.

Airline will flag you for future tickets.

That’s the whole premise of the website Skiplagged

A few things. You obviously can’t check any luggage and must book 2 separate one way flights. Also airlines don’t like it and can penalize you so don’t book using your airline account, airline credit card or frequent flyer number when making your reservation.

How many people are you gonna piss off thinking their flight to Phoenix could take off early, but for the plane having to wait on ONE MORE passenger?

I wonder if the airlines flag you after a stunt like that?

It's still a good illustration of their bullshite pricing framework.

They shouldnt wait. If you arent at the gate 10 min before listed departure time you should be left

Just tell the gate attendant you have explosive diarrhea and don’t think you should be flying your second leg.

Sounds like the equivalent of paying red light tickets. Who cares.

Doubtful they would after just one time. If they notice a pattern they will.

I've done it(on Delta), used my frequent flyer account, and never heard a word from them, and have used them a few times since.

If you told them at the gate, I really don't see why they would care? Its not that cool to just not show up for your flight, as said they may wait on you and could otherwise potentially fill it with someone else (not likely with Covid).

But outside of that, they have a pricing system with flaws. What a terrible business practice to punish those that harmlessly use it.

You will now have an X put in the corner of ever ticket you buy. That X will have TSA "randomly" select you for the full blown pat down, and search.

One way ticket holders get this treatment often.
