addition, their lounges I have used have been terrible but usually the lounges are in a different terminal than I am flying out of. I do have a lot of points on the card and they do offer 1.5 reimbursement

The fee doesn't go up until your renewal after Oct 2025, so you can try the new perks before paying the increased fee. You can also downgrade to a different chase card and keep your points.

The lounges have been full lately and generally are crowded and dirty. Losing restaurants has also reduced the value of the PP membership.

I am on the fence. I spend more than 75k so maybe the SW credit will be worth keeping the card.

This is where I am. I have the preferred currently, but I also spend more than 75k, so I'm wondering if it's worth it to upgrade.

$120 Apple TV+
$300 Travel credit
$500 Southwest credit

With just those I'm right around the yearly fees

If you are spending over 75K on a credit card each year it is 100% worth it to have a premium card, if for nothing else than the spending and redemption bonuses for travel which should offset the annual fee alone. Just have to pick the right card for your needs.

I also spend more than $75k annually (though on the AmEx Platinum) and I'm not sure that the new CSR benefits are enough to entice me to put $75k worth of spend on that card. At least with my AmEx the $75k unlocks unlimited Sky Club access as well as free guests to the Centurion Lounges.

Interesting based off the boatload of negativity around SW... The demo they fricked with the change around bags isn't going to be a regular user of this card, so not gaining back any core customers with this.

IMO, Chase also works with United and thats where they should have pushed this credit.

I would have been much happier to have seen a United credit, Southwest was probably more inclined to play ball given the PR disaster its had around all of the new changes.

Sounds like Chase might be adding lifetime language on their SUBs

United credit, Southwest

WN is for sure not the target demographic for the Reserve, but it's also not constrained by hubs like UA, DL and AA. I will never use that credit.

Non-hub flyers will probably make use of it. While I'm not a fan of Southwest (I hate the boarding process and seating free-for-all) I end up flying them randomly 1-2 a year since I'm based in Austin.

Any rumors what they are adding/deleting with the increased fee?

Think they will mirror a lot of what Chase is doing just at larger amounts

I'm just worried about losing that 1.5x valuation of points redemption in the portal

A lot of times youre better off transferring to partners anyway. I've only used the portal 2-3 times so this isn't an issue for me. I don't spend $75k though so I can't take advantage of some of the bigger perks. I despise stubhub and try not to use those types of ticket exchanges if possible so I doubt I'll use that credit. The restaurants are limited to just major cities, none in my home state so I'll have to use them when traveling. I don't have apple TV so that perk does nothing for me. The Edit has a lot of hotels listed so that might be something I can use.

I don't like how they do things like spread the door dash credits monthly. I don't order door dash every month so most of those credits never get used.

The lounges and priority pass participants have gotten shittier.

The IHG platinum is worth looking into but I usually use Hilton. Unfortunately one of the big perks of IHG platinum is Hertz gold tier but I already have Hertz presidential tier. All in all the increased fee isn't worth the additional perks so this is a loss for me but I may still keep the card. Will have to do the math

This is the first year I don't feel like I am getting worthwhile value from the Platinum. I usually come out even or ahead based on my usual travel and spending habits. Just didn't travel as much as usual. I have Plat, Gold and Business Blue so my points are safe if I don't re-up.

Lounges are crowded, if you can even get in without a wait at my usual airports ( I am not going to stand in line just for them either), and I haven't used the hotel credit yet (not sure I will get to).

I have the Disney/Hulu bundle through cell plan, so losing Audible last year sucked.

I use Uber eats for a monthly lunch.

Clear us slower than TSA pre more often than not.

Saved on some of the coupons, but those are available on the other cards I have.

Will have to see what changes they make and the timing (Aug renewal).

Based on this alone you should be good for another year at the current annual fee.
