I’ve searched all the reviews in the sticky and quite a few threads but looking for additional advice. Two couples, both in our mid 30’s, looking to go to a Caribbean island this November or December..

List of things we want to be able to do / have:
-Nice Beaches (very nice)
-No kids
-Active nightlife and a little partying / socializing
-Maybe visit another island on a day trip (not a necessity but would be nice)

We are open to all inclusive or renting a house / villa / condo. Only concern about renting a place is having to do the daily typical house chores. Any feedback or advice on this would be appreciated.

Places we scratched off the list because we have already been:
-Bahamas
-Jamaica
-DR
-Mexico

Budget is $5000 per couple.

Is there a nightlife in St Lucia? I’ve heard St Lucia and Turks & Caicos do not have much of a nightlife.

The high season so may push out of budget but St. Barths or the BVIs could be a nice fit.

My friend suggested St Maarten near Maho Beach / Simpson Bay. Any thoughts?

St. Maarten.

Ok. Shithole on the interior. Nice beaches. Great food on the French side. Day trips to Anguilla and St. Barth’s both of which are vastly superior to St. Maarten/Martin overall. Great nightlife on St. Maarten.

Honestly, you should fly into St. Maarten and then take the ferry or puddle jumper and stay on St. Barth’s. It’s an incredible island.

Can you expand on the shithole on the interior comment?

Any suggestions on all inclusive vs renting a house?

Is there any nightlife on St Barth’s?

Certain areas do have a night life. Not where we stayed, but that’s not what we were looking to do.

We did a couples trip down in Aruba and had a blast exploring the island.

Bermuda

Costa Rica

Cayman Islands fits everything you want except for night life. It’s chill but the bars are hoping.

BVI’s. Day trip to Anegada and Virgin Gorda. Spend your nights on Jost Van Dyke or go to the USVI and party on St John.

Eta. Fly into St. Thomas for a pretty reasonable rate. Then catch the ferry to wherever you stay

I Was in the caymans last week and had a really good time, probably my new favorite Caribbean spot other then St. Thomas. We stayed at the Marriott which had some great beachfront but when we go back we’ll go to the ritz because of the location and there are probably less kids there. As someone above said there’s not an amazing night life there but honestly we indulged plenty during the day and used the nights to recharge.

there are a bunch of excursions and I didn’t do a single one, but there are plenty of ways to stay occupied if you don’t want to just drink on the beach. It’s also extremely easy to get there, United has a direct flight out of Houston that was relatively cheap.

Pretty much everyone on the islands house looks like a garbage dump.

I'd rent a house. I am not a fan of all-inclusive resorts.

I believe there is. It's a French island and the French like to party.

Or stay on St. John and day trip to the BVI. There aren't many all-inclusives left due to Irma. Everything was pretty much wiped out.

You can also sail. We're flying down Thursday morning and sailing the BVI for 10 days followed by 2 days on Jost.

RE: St. Thomas and St. Maarten. St. John is vastly superior to either of those islands in every respect. However, the nightlife has taken a hit as Beach Bar and Joe's Rum hut still aren't open. There is a nightlife though. We were out until 2 AM a couple of nights in early June at bars. As with anywhere in the islands be aware of your surroundings late at night.

Not sure I would count on that; they cater to kids at that Ritz.

Look at the Exumas even though it is Bahamas. It has everything you are looking for. Just got back.

Don't go with trashy people. you may have to load a few dished or cook some food, but that doesn't bother me.

I'd also recommend Anguilla.

I've spent the last 10 days in Exuma, it definitely checks everything off your list except the nightlife. There is so much to do on the water during the day you can have drinks at the villa every night and start over the next morning.
