Anyone have an opinion on what broadway shows are the best? Going to New York in August and was trying to decide on which show to see.

I really enjoy Wicked.
The Book of Mormon is hysterical.
Haven't been to see Hamilton yet, but if the hype is to be believed, it's awesome.

The price for Hamilton is not worth it right now.
Plus I'm not too big on the political aspect of it either.

Hamilton is incredible and by far the best play I've ever seen but you have to get tickets far in advance. I really liked Jersey Boys and The Book of Mormon (it's definitely not for some people though) too.

Jersey Boys is excellent.
Phantom is a classic.
Hamilton was great (not sure what the previous poster meant by politics....) But you will pay a lot. I've been jamming to he soundtrack for months. Saw it in Feb in Chicago.
Kinky boots was surprisingly good.
Book or Mormon is really funny too.
I've seen a lot more too.
They are all at least good. You really can't go wrong. YouTube the hit songs from a narrowed down list and go to your favorite.
Or whatever is cheapest at TKTS (get the app) that day.

Wicked and Book of Mormon were both fantastic. Wicked is at a great theater. Go to John's before in the theater district. In an old cathedral and terrific food
Wife and I splurged and got 2019 Dallas musical season tickets. Super pumped. First one is in December. Good lineup
Phantom of the Opera
Aladdin
Hamilton
Elf
Ms Saigon
Book of Morman
Fiddler on the Roof
Anastasia

Those damn Federalists! I'm a Jefferson man. Burr was framed!

That's similar to the Atlanta lineup. We were hoping to see A.Ham again, but the single tickets will be like $1k each.

Yall werent lying about the Hamilton prices. Face value is $550 for orchestra seating. Seems like other plays are $200 in the same area

I've seen Jersey Boys and Lion King. I highly recommend Jersey Boys. Lion King was good of course but I loved Jersey Boys.

I agree about Jersey Boys. Act 1 felt kind of slow. The actual story is interesting, but the songs are pretty average. Then, they build up to “Sherry” right towards the end of Act 1 and the rest of the show just kills it.

We saw kinky boots and I was not excited about going. The soundtrack was awesome and the story is very deep.
The song near the end “I’m not my father’s son” had the whole place crying.

Would Jersey Boys be appealing to a younger crowd (under 40)? I was thinking their high pitched singing would get old after a while. I am not a big fan of 50's jukebox music.
Also would practicing Christians be offended by The Book of Mormon? People we are going with are not Mormons but are pretty religious.

It probably depends on age and the ability to see the good intentions behind it. I'm in my 30s from an evangelical household and I thought it was hilarious. We're practicing Christians but we're not easily offended. I'll just say that far more subtle attacks on Christianity/religion bother me a lot more than the over-the-top heresy of Book of Mormon.
All that said, no chance in hell I take my parents to it
