Then they should probably do what they want. Don’t stay locked in doors for fear of the sniffles.

Considering they had a good friend die from it last month, they're not going to risk it. He was 68 and no pre-existing issues that they know of.

Again, so how are they going to enforce this? You fly home, get off the airplane, go to your car, and then what? They going to follow you home?

They can assign a social worker (that’s what all the cops are being replaced with) to each person coming off a plane and they will stay with you 24/7 for the duration of the quarantine.

That sucks.

How many people do they know that have had it and not died?

And do they know anyone that’s ever died in a motor vehicle accident?

That is their choice. They can hide in their house for as long as they want. My grandfather in England died last month: he spent the last 9 months of his life trapped between his house and a hospital room. At the end said he would’ve traded 8.5 of those months for .5 months of quality time, but luckily the British government decided that wasn’t his choice. PSA: the government isn’t letting this end anytime soon, my bet is deep into 2022 (if ever).

I’m 37 and could die tomorrow, life is finite for everyone. This “selfish” narrative is so off target, I can live my life however I want and your parents can hide in their house too.

At this point it wouldn’t been easier to buy all the “at risk” and Karen’s fully enclosed hazmat suits and let the rest of us just live our lives.

What sucks is the mandate wipes out Delta as an option for families since the mask rule will now apply to two year olds on their planes as well. Kids of that age are not significant vectors for the virus but ya know, we only follow the science when it's convenient.

Pushing families to either not take a vacation, see their families or drive hundreds of miles are all way less safer and more damaging to health than if a 2 year old is maskless on an airplane.

You know if a certain type of Karen is shrieking and screaming at a family with a mask less toddler.. she should stay her miserable arse at home as well.

That’s madness forreal . Like who sees a maskless toddler and immediately thinks yep this child will kill me.

I woke up early to watch my grandfathers service, I would’ve had to stream it even if there wasn’t a pandemic since I wouldn’t have been able to make the trip in normal times.

The pastor said “Roy requested this song be sung at his service, but we aren’t allowed to sing anymore, so we will play the Choir of XXXX singing it.”

Maybe I was just tired but I laughed out loud at my grandfather’s service while sitting in my PJ’s in my living room. I mean, WTF.

As someone who may or may not be a DAL crew member. 95 percent of us don’t give two shits about anyone under the age of like 10 wearing a masks. I’d even further say a large portion dont care at all about it really. Just make a damn effort if you’re a teenager or older and nobody will bother you. Not to say there aren’t mask nazis walking around because there are 20,000 FAs. But by and large we are all over it.

Unfortunately, can't take that risk of getting kicked off.

It's depressing as hell.

No, but your analogy doesn't work because car crashes aren't highly contagious.

First off, sorry to hear about your grandfather.

Second, they aren't hiding in their house. They go out plenty, but are safe about it, wear masks, etc. They're not going to get on a plane and travel to another country right now though for a number of reasons.

I get that it's a choice, however, I do think this is different than your typical day to day life choices. This is an extremely rare situation where the act of one person can have significant consequences downstream for others not in their direct circle due to how this thing spreads.

And I do think it's selfish to not follow pretty simple guidelines for a temporary amount of time so that we can keep others safe. We'll probably just have to agree to disagree on that.

I'm tired of having to wear a mask. I'm tired of working from home(even though it has it's benefits). I'm tired of having my wife's unemployment extended because she can't find another job in her industry(hospitality/corporate meetings and events) that's been decimated. I'm tired of not being able to travel. But, I'm going to be patient and continue to cooperate and do the things needed to help slow this thing down so that we can get back to that point because I know this is temporary and if everyone just gave up and said screw it, this thing would be 10x worse than it already is.

The attendant at the gate just announced that effective today you can get a $35k fine for not wearing a mask bc its now a federal mandate. No way that's legit right?

People are just making shite up these days but... The FAA/TSA absolutely has the right to impose Civil Penalties for violations of certain Regulations related to air travel. For instance, and a lot of people don't know this, when TSA catches you with a firearm in your carry on they don't normally go after you criminally. They just slam you with a big civil fine. And people gladly pay it because otherwise the government will look into if they can charge you criminally somehow. I know this because a good friend left a .22 pistol from the deer camp in his duffle bag and then threw some clothes on top. He obviously didn't know it was in there. When he got popped at the X-Ray I think he would have given them his first born just to get out of that airport. So giving them the pistol and $3,500 (I can't remember the exact amount, I think that number is right) sounded really, really good to him.

So you are going to have to test negative and then quarantince...makese sense...

It does make sense. When you test it could be negative even if you have it if you test too early. Take the cruise that went out. Everyone was required a negative test to board. They still got covid because one passenger was positive they just tested too early.

I have no idea why this wasn't a rule all along.

Any word on this quarantine requirement? I know people who returned from Mexico this week and none of it was even mentioned to them upon return and that testing was a breeze.

Did they get tested at their hotel? How much time did it take? And what happens if you do test positive? Gotta pay for 14 more nights in their hotel?

What happens if I test positive?
People should self-isolate and delay their travel if symptoms develop or a pre-departure test result is positive until they have recovered from COVID-19. Airlines must refuse to board anyone who does not present a negative test result for COVID-19 or documentation of recovery.

Interesting. It’s justifiable to base their decisions on the 1 exception rather than the multiple examples of the rule.

No,

Well then they’re safe, no reason to ever worry about dying in a car crash for them.

So car crashes are only 1 vehicle and the person driving the car is the only person impacted by the crash? Interesting.
