I have a chance to move to Bradenton for work. Just wondering about the area besides it has great beaches and it's better than BR.

Great town.

Not too far from Anna Maria Island which is an awesome beach spot.

It's awesome. Directly north is Tampa, West is Anna Marie (water and sand on par with Destin) and South is Sarasota.

I own a property in Long Boat Key that we will retire to some day.

You're also only 2 hours from Orlando and Naples.

Does MLB still do a lot of spring training there?

Yes they do and the Rays play in St Pete which is about 20-30 minutes from Bradenton.

Yankees, blue Jays, Pirates, Phillies, Orioles are all in that area. I'm sure I'm missing a few.

The Pirates have their facility “Pirate City” there. It’s off 27th St E. The spring training games & their minor league team play just south of downtown.

Cleetus McFarland land is what it's called now. You may want to go and see if you can handle how overpopulated it is. But it's not like you're coming from a place that doesn't have a mega traffic problem all hours of the day as well.

You’re used to traffic except the best beaches in FL are near or reasonably near your doorstep and you won’t pay state income tax.

Do it. Your life will be better.

It's full of alligators and giant pythons.

Bradenton is on the opposite coast from me. I'm in Port St Lucie, on the Atlantic side. I love the weather. The beaches are probably better on the Gulf side, but the beaches in south Florida are very nice, and not very crowded in Port St Lucie.

Florida is having a population explosion. Areas that are crowded, now, will become ridiculous. Areas that aren't crowded now, will be in the next 10-15 years if you are near the water.

I'm in Port St. Lucie, which is not crowded now, but is experiencing some growing pains. The locals complain about how crowded it's getting, and the transplants from the northeast talk about how rural it is.

A little further north in Cocoa, Vero Beach, and the areas near Cape Canaveral are all still reasonably priced and not so crowded and not as touristy as most of the gulf coast and Miami.

I grew up there (graduated HS in 1981) and still have family there.

Live in the FL Panhandle now.

Beaches are very good (FL Panhandle is better IMO). Anna Maria Island still has a beach town feel as there are not as many large condos as found elsewhere. Beaches traffic is a PITA these days as there are only two 2 lane roads to the Island. Just as it was 50 years ago.

Housing prices are pretty steep in Bradenton itself - location. Expansion is primarily to the east - see Lakewood Ranch or north/northeast - see Palmetto, Ellenton.

Easy access to SRQ (Sarasota Bradenton Airport).

Nice State Parks nearby - Myakka and Oscar Sherer.

Great weather year round - tho summers can be dang hot.

Like the rest of Florida, it keeps growing and has changed alot from 30+ years ago.
