I live in Lake Charles and was trying to find a place to camp in a tent anywhere in Louisiana. Anyone have any recommendations?

Indian Creek primitive area. Find a place on a point on the water. Good spring through fall.

Not this...unless you are there in December and are set up with nets.

Summer in LA is not conducive to tent camping. You’d have to get to TN for me to call a tent. A long trip enjoyable.

Only place you’d want to do that is on a coastline to get breeze because it’s so fricking hot.

North of there in Red Dirt. There’s a trail called Backbone that has the best bluff you’re going to find. I’m sure you can google map it.

I agree that it’s just not a good idea in the summer.
How about Arkansas?

Second this. Have been going since I was a kid. Absolutely do not go between Memorial day and like mid September unless you enjoy feeling like you are in an oven while you try to sleep.

Me and a few buddies slept out on last island a few years ago in a tent. Fished at night, slept out there, and fished the morning. did that in July. We didn't bring sleeping bags or anything b/c we figured we'd sweat our asses off even with them off. We were actually cold most of the night b/c of the constant breeze.

I still agree it's not smart to camp in the summer in LA.

Lake Fausse Pointe off Henderson exit in middle of swamp was best place I've camped in LA

We camped a night in July for a canoe trip in Mississippi and it was the hottest I've ever been in a tent, would not recommend it until fall/spring.

Yeah probably to hot right now. Thanks everyone for the tips.

Maybe I'll try Arkansas if we go during the summer.
