Looking at heading there tomorrow maybe and staying through Sunday. Any suggestions from y'all? Trying to do something different than the beach. It's our anniversary looking for something different

Go see some live music at the Continental Club. they have early shows as well as late shows.

Go walk along the Town Lake paths. You can rent a canoe and paddle the lake if you want.

Go watch the bats come out from under the Congress Ave. Bridge at dusk.

Eat Barbecue. Valentinas in far south austin is a favorite for brisket tacos.

Lots of food & drink recs in the previous hundred threads on here. Do a search.

Personally, I love the drive. Just make sure to time it so that you avoid Houston rush hour. Stop at Buc-Es . Enjoy the hills.

I’m at the Hyatt Regency downtown right now. Right on the river. There’s a ton of great hotels downtown. They can be pricey...

Austin, Dallas, Houston

Which one is better for an anniversary getaway. Wanted to go to Colorado but a little short on time this year to make that trip

We usually do the beach, just wanting something different

Any of those cities could be a good choice. Depends on what you want out of the trip. If Austin, do y'all like wine? You could spend the night in Fredericksburg and hit some wineries.

Austin. The Driskill Hotel.

The Oasis Restaurant on Lake Travis is touristy but has great views. Good place to grab a drink.

Fredericksburg is great. Sitting outside at Grape Creek is nice. If it’s just for a day stick to Main St and eat at Vaudeville. If spending a night use the 290 Wine Tour. I believe it’s $30 a person and stops every 15 min at many wineries.

If driving in and out stop at Hilmy. Their wines are solid.

Am I the only one who thinks Fredericksburg is disgusting and overrun by people of WalMart ? Wine is the only good thing going for it.
