Am I the only one who thinks Fredericksburg is disgusting and overrun by people of WalMart ?

It's totally over run by tourists and not someplace I like to spend much time in. But if you and your SO like wine then you will probably enjoy the area for a weekend.

Just returned from Austin. Mehhhh probably won't be back soon. Stayed at the new Fairmont, fantastic hotel and spa. Unbelievable the homeless people there. Had some kind of video game convention there. Was a really strange crowd. Highlight of the trip was Perry's steakhouse, incredible food. The Domain was nice as well. Lake Travis was nice too

On another note that Terry Blacks BBQ was terrible, everyone raved about it. Maybe we just went on a bad night. Either way it was terrible

The Oasis Restaurant on Lake Travis is touristy but has great views. Good place to grab a drink.

Steiner Ranch Steakhouse is a good option if looking for a good meal with a view.

Damn, I know it isn't Franklin's or La Barbecue but I think T. Black's is more than adequate.

Maybe my taste buds suck.

It's really quite incredible that so many nice cities want to screw it up by encouraging the homeless to camp/beg/steal/OD in the best spots. Austin, San Diego, San Fran, Portland ,LA, NYC etc.. These people, God bless em, should be out in the "rural areas"... not in prime downtown real estate by design.

Fredericksburg

if you can make it out to the Gillispie Fairgrounds it is a fun time with live horse racing. lots of locals. not your typical main street crowd.

imo the wine has jumped the shark. used to be less crowds and more intimate at places. you could really meet and greet with the owners and operators. a lot of the newer wineries feel too commercial.

i enjoy it. walking down main street with a beer is neat. i am more of an antiques in Cuero or Gonzales than knick knacks in F'burg or Granbury though.

I’m with you Teddy. I quite enjoy Terry Blacks and consider it up there with some of the best I’ve had. Micklethwaites is solid and Valentina’s is great as well.

To each their own.
