Any experience with "Ouigo" trains in Spain or France?

Was looking to book a trip on the Spanish high speed train. The trip was like €90. I see an ad for Ouigo I check it out. Same trip from the same stations €29. €36 for XL seat (I'm guessing first class like Spirit)

Renfe was the only option for most routes but Madrid to Barcelona had Renfe, Avlo and Ouigo trains.

Just seeing if it's really bad, a trap or something.

I've taken Renfe a lot. Never heard of Ouigo but to be honest I never paid much attention to names, I always booked whatever was at the best time for the cheapest amount and shortest time.

They are owned by the French railroad SNCF and are legit. There are no cafe cars, only 1 class and has a strict bag limit.
Here is a good rundown

Ouigo is fine and well worth the discount. We took it from Madrid to Barcelona. We took Renfe business class back. Business was nicer but definitely not a drastic difference like the airlines.

Ouigo is the bargain version of SNCF, the French national carrier. Expect some limitations IE bags, seat size, etc... They've started operating in Spain over RENFE tracks ( the Spanish national carrier). RENFE service is a bit spotty but not awful. I dont think you can lose much by using Ouigo, they're probably both operated by the same local folks. The RENFE spotty service is a cultural issue more than a technology issue.

Took the Renfe from Barcelona to Paris. It was not the super high speed train but it was a direct ride and was pleasant enough.

The high speed trains I can remember were the Eurostar from London to Paris and the train from Paris to Reims and back. Great experience.
