Booked Breck for MG and Whistler in March. Telluride will also be filled in somewhere one or twice thanks to a friend of a friend with a jet and condo. Skipping the early season skiing this year.
Whistler has been on the bucket list.

$1900 for three of us to fly on SW from MSY-SLC
I feel violated. Just in the couple hours I waited the price went up $200

Family of 4 here. Got a conference in Sun Valley March 5-10. $1,400 per ticket from JAN.

Can I politely ask why everyone is booking flights right now at ridiculous prices? The best deals are about 6 weeks out, not 6 months. I've never flown to SLC for more than $350. Usually my flights to DEN are under $200.

I'm not booking yet. Just commenting on how expensive they currently are. Last year's ski trip however I booked 4 months out. Prices steadily went up after I booked.

Mardi Gras/President's week- if you wait until 6 weeks out this year, they are likely to be sold out.

Because 2023 Mardi Gras week is not a typical / usual ski trip weekend. There is no way in hell that the prices will be cheaper in January than what it is right now.

Let me go back and add too...we wanted to fly southwest. Not sure yet if we will bring a snowboard for my daughter or not but for a ski trip we want the option to take as much luggage as we want. So, while I think prices may stay steady or have slight adjustments, I am fearing they will sell out of the cheaper fares which, if they add flights won't be a big deal but I don't want to be stuck having to buy different tickets at different prices just so we can get on the same flight

You can also rebook on Southwest if you see a lower fare and get credited the difference. Same thing on other airlines so if the price fits your budget then go for it

Anyone looking at getting new gear this year? Anything interesting for the ‘23 skis?
My skis are fine but put up wet and I’m just kind of bored with them. I’ve lost trust in the Tryolia bindings which has something to do with wanting something new. My boots finally broke in after 100 days or so; while I don’t need new ones they would be nice to have.
I like the description of the Volkl Revolt 104 but prob should get something tougher in the mid90s like the Enforcer 94 or Ranger 96.

I took the plunge and got a legit powder ski, Enforcer 110 Frees. End of the season sale and the price was just too good.
If I was looking at mid90s skis, both of those would get a strong look.

Park City question(s)
So, we're staying at Canyons Village and most in our group are very beginner skiers and will stick to mostly greens and maybe some blues
Whats going to be the easiest way to get from Canyons to Park City Mountain to access more greens and blues?
Each group is comprised of mom, dad and daughter (all under 14 years old) so them carrying all of their gear is not really an option and they'll need help probably with skis and poles. I know there is a bus that runs from canyons village and picks up at 7-Eleven but then it looks like it drops off either at the Fresh Market or by the round-about at the Old Town Transit Center in downtown. What I cant seem to figure out is the easiest way to get from either stop to Park City Mountain?
Would it be best to walk from the OTTC to the Town Lift then, take that up and ski down Home Run or Treasure Hollow?
Should we get off at Fresh Market and then walk to the mountain from there or is there another shuttle/bus we take from Fresh Market (looks like it's about a .50 mi)?

This is what I would do in your situation. But I will always opt for being on the mountain vs taking a bus. Starting right to left, black bars are lifts/gondola, green bars are short runs. At the end of this you will be in green/blue run central.

Awesome!
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks
My brain was starting to hurt trying to figure it out on the trail map.

anyone know when they stop selling Epic passes? I have a buddy wanting to go but he can’t commit just yet. I can’t seem to find anything definitive.

Last year I think they stopped seeking them right around thanksgiving

I'd take the route that the other poster marked on the trail, but the bus from canyons will stop at the base of PC as well. If you wanted to do town lift the walk is very short from the OTTC but I see no reason to do this option unless you just wanted to go downtown. Definitely no reason to walk from fresh market. FYI everyone will be trying to get on those busses at the end of the day so expect to fight a large crowd unless you take the gondola and ski back. The quicksilver gondola shuts down a bit earlier than the other lifts too

quote:Which bus? I am trying to grasp it but just keep getting confused and since this is our first trip without a car I am trying to do my best to understand it in case someone may want to just bus over to meet us at some point.

Is there another bus that runs from Canyons to PC Mnt?

With such a big group I think people will probably trickle back throughout the day. Some may use the bus while some of us (maybe the adult guys) would just ski our way back.
