I’m hitting Copper Friday afternoon on my way to Aspen for the weekend. Hopefully this storm delivers tonight and the clouds hang around though the week. It’s going to be cold as balls until the weekend when it finally gets into the teens.

Headed to Snoqualmie Central today for a nice sunny groomer day. Was originally thinking Crystal but it's 2 hrs each way vs the hr to snoqualmie plus my big toe is still a bit black and blue from using the wrong size ski socks last week...

Snow forecast is looking very good around WA starting sunday, unfortunately that is going to cause some problems for flying out to Florida next week . I'm ready for a beach and pool week

Alta just hit a 100 inch base, crazy snow there from this storm, going there for a few days next week and one day at Deer Valley. Staying one night in PC, if anyone has some reccomendations for food there I would be interested.

Looks like Jackson and the PNW are going to be the big winners next week.

It's pretty "cliche" but No Name Saloon on Main Street is always fun

You could say that again. Just brutal out there this morning. Nothing like -6 and getting hammered with a north wind.

It was still low single digits this afternoon at Copper. My toes did not feel great but everything tense was fine. Wind was minimal.

Skied Ajax today for the first time in decades. What a fantastic place. Probably the best group of skiers I’ve ever seen. People sending it every chance, bombing down groomer with style, monster backflips, etc. Damn impressive.

Question for all you locals and ski bums...

Is "Gaper" pronounced GAP-err or GAY-purr?

I’ve heard it both ways. I go with Gap as in the gap between the goggles and helmet.

I've always gone with "gape" instead of "gap" for tourists who stand around and "gape" at the locals.

Hit up Snowmass yesterday. Aside from one EX section that was closed (looked very tough from the lift), it’s a very mellow mountain. Lots of long, groomed, cruiser blues which were a lot of fun. Also not many good skiers. Everyone seemed like they were on vacation. I would recommend it for a group trip with various ability levels.

Nice parking recommendation passed on from a local: Two Creeks $20 Paid Parking. There are two lots but the second one is next to the lift. I parked 10’ from the lift.

I also got a nasty gram from Ikon for not having reservations. I did not realize that you need reservations for many of their mountains now. When I purchased my pass in the spring there was a mention of possible reservations on busy days. I must have missed the notice that it’s required at all times now. My pass scanned fine, no warnings or anything, but got the violation email while skiing the next day at a place that required a reservation. I was able to get a reservation same day luckily but the threat of a 30-day pass suspension dampened my mood.

I stayed in Frisco last weekend and hit up Breck, Vail, and Keystone. Different weather every day made for such a nice variety that I feel like I was there for a week. I flew in early Thursday morning and headed straight to the mountains. Parked about 10:30, so I got almost a full day. I think the highest it ever got at Breck was about 6 and it snowed the entire day. Probably -10 with the wind. It was the coldest I've ever been in my life. Newly opened peak 7 was in great shape, I spent most of my time there and peak 8.

I only took a few pics, it was cold as frick.

Absolutely beautiful day Friday at Vail, it was still pretty cold but the sun helped. Snow was in great condition and the back bowls just opened up and were pretty much mogul-free. I covered a lot of ground and had a wonderful time. My favorite mountain by far.

Keystone Saturday was icy and crowded. I'm not sure if it's lack of workers or what, but there looked to be plenty of closed off runs with 7' mounds of snow waiting to be groomed. There were 2 decent runs that I found off Santiago lift that I rode 6 or 7 times. Everything else was filled with amateurs. But Keystone probably has the best views around. The lake is incredibly beautiful driving up.

Peak 6 has not yet opened for the season but its my new favorite (Peak 8 Imperial bowl and the chutes are a close second) due to the low crowd. Peak 7 base gets a little too crowded, they really need another chair down there.

I like snowmass the best of the 4.
Ajax was second, but you've got to stay off of the beaten path to find any decent runs left.

Breck on a cold day is so fricking cold.

Breckenfridge is a nickname for a reason.

Can you recommend a place to stay? We have decided on Frisco also so we can ski Copper and take a day trip over to Beaver Creek.

I found an airbnb condo on Main Street. There were plenty of options in all price ranges if you use that.
