Yeah after doing some research it seems Vail will be the challenge.
There's a shuttle service between Vail and Summit.

I really don't see why there isn't a bus running between Vail and Copper. Short route, connects to Eagle/Summit routes.
Also, the snowpack is lacking so far. It's better for the northern resorts, who are looking 60-75% of normal snowpack but south of I70 and it is desperate. 33% of normal in the San Juans. And frankly, the long term (1-2 weeks out) forecast isn't getting me excited either.

Just booked Park City December 16-19th

Breck got 7 inches in the last day. Thank goodness.

Copper was a complete mess today. Soooo many people. Lots of ice on the runs. And the ski racers (as well as amateur speed demons) flying down the mountain don’t do much to ease my anxiety of getting destroyed from behind.
I hit a patch of ice today and slid fairly (but not dangerously) close to this lady. She must’ve been at least mid-40s. I felt kind of bad because she was clearly struggling up there and had this vivid grimace on her face. I continued down the mountain and she fell down a few seconds later. Definitely not a place for beginners right now.
I ended up just hitting the park all day. The park was not crowded and much more enjoyable than the icy runs.

Yeah, it looked like they were in it for most of the day yesterday looking from Leadville. Was hanging snow all day on the divide.

Tell me about Heavenly. I’m an intermediate snowboarder. Going solo for 5 days.
Is there a shuttle service all around South Lake Tahoe? Place I’m looking to stay is 12 minutes from the lifts.
Enough terrain for 5 days if I’m first chair to last chair type of guy?

fricking trash.
Not seeing snow for the west in the next week to week and a half. Some hints of a pattern change mid-month but nothing to trust just yet.

:( gfs looks decent for late next week? Still way too warm though

I usually do 2 days at Heavenly when I go to Tahoe. I think there is enough terrain for 2 solid days. If you are an advanced or expert skiier you will have plenty of terrain for 2 good days. Intermediates and below you will be limited.
3 days would be pushing it. 5 is overkill. Just rent an SUV or Jeep - there are so many good resorts around Reno/Tahoe, and you can do Northstar and Kirkwood with your Epic Pass, or you can just buy day passes at each place and hit places like Alpine or Squaw. Northstar is a great place for groomers and easier blacks on the backside, and Kirkwood is great if you are an advanced skiier who wants to ski on great quality snow and challenge yourself on a wide variety advanced runs.
When I go to Tahoe I get an Air BNB in Reno, its a great city.

Starting to worry a bit about my trip to Park City Dec 22-25.
Did Vail last year the same time frame and snow didn't really come in until about a week before so it was cutting it close, and they only had one bowl open in the back, plus some good runs on the frontside closed as well like Blue Ox. The full length of Riva Ridge and Lionshead didn't open until December 18
2 years ago I did Tahoe from Dec 22-25 and pretty much everything was open terrain wise at Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood.
I hate being obsessed with snow reports and forecasts

Its rough out there. If we could get some cold air down, they could at least make snow more than just at night. We're getting to the point though its going to need a blockbuster when the pattern flips to get a decent number of runs open.
I was up in Avon last week and the lack of snow on BC was jarring.

What about 5 days at Big Sky?

Big Sky is massive, lots of intermediate terrian and some of the blacks aren't too bad. 4-5 days is just about right.

What are some of the easier blacks I should check out while in Big Sky?

The bowl off of powderseaker isn't too bad, it is a lot of fun when there is fresh snow up there. Some of the blacks on the moonlight side are pretty good, that is my favorite part of the mountain. Some really good blue tree runs as well like whiskey that can help you build some confidence skiing in the trees.
I guess a strong intermediate could ski off of the tram down Liberty Bowl depending on the conditions.

Gracias. A couple of years back I rode the tram all the way to the top (during summer) and checked out some of the runs while I was there (big couloir, etc..). I couldn’t imagine being at the top of one of those runs on skis.

Just booked Park City for Mardi Gras. Solo trip. I’m beyond pumped. 5 days to myself, first chair to last chair, eating PBJ on the lifts.

Update:
The forecast is still trash for the foreseeable future. Breaking records on high temps today across Colorado and the rest of the mountain west.
Even in the 3/4 week range, still looks unusually warm and dry for the west.

I hit up Keystone last weekend. “Two” runs were open and it was a mess. Took two trips down and that was enough enough.
I booked a work trip instead of my usual early Dec ski trip. I only have a Silverton weekend and a CB week on the books. It’s not looking good.

With park city, deer valley and canyons village all being closed in Utah, we drove an hour each way to/from Brighton and couldn’t have been happier
Three lifts and I think 9 runs open with totally manageable crowds and waits at the lift. Really enjoyed our first trip and couldn’t be happier with the staff and service at Brighton
