Pulled the trigger on one last quick trip to Summit County, thought about the PNW but the flights were less than ideal. Going to Copper on Friday after that likely A-Basin for two days.

Nice!!

Have been looking at y'all & Mt Bachelor's open snow forecasts for the past few weeks with an extreme sense of longing. We're projected for ~30-40" this week in total in Tahoe. Most of the lower mountain lifts at Palisads were bare & closing or already closed so hopefully they have enough staff to power through the next couple weeks. Each of these storms are awfully windy so Upper Mountain will be spotty. But after our 2022 thus far I'll take it.

Quick trip to Summit County to wrap up my season which was a good one. Skied Copper on Friday and it was hero snow, lapped the Super Bee lift for a few hours while the snow was really good and then moved up the mountain to Tucker Mountain and Union Peak. Tucker mountain is newer terrian at Copper, fantastic steep terrian with some low angle glades at the bottom. A place to find some powder stashes. Skied onto every lift.

Went to A-Basin on Saturday, was told on the shuttle ride in that it was their third busiest day of the season. It was busy but a good chunk of people were their to tailgate at the beach. Party like atmosphere with a big concert when the lifts shut down.

Wasn't sure where I was going at the start of the day today, ended up at Copper which turned out to be a great decision. It was a sneaky powder day with 3-6 inches of snow, went back to the Tucker Mountain area and had a blast. There were a few long traverses in the wind but plenty of powder to pay off the hard work. The Tucker area in Copper might be one of the most underrated spots in Colorado. Also hard to beat skiing onto every lift on powder day, was a great Easter ski day.

Super jealous, sounds like a great time I've never been to copper or abasin, which would you recommend for someone who skis blacks?

Went skiing at Stevens Pass for the first time yesterday. Only the front side was open so options were limited, but still had fun. Found some soft snow and also some icy stuff. Few pictures below. View from Hogsback lift

View from 7th heaven lift towards Skyline

View from over by Double Diamond. You can see the top of the 7th heaven lift on the upper right

Trees were good, little tight but snow was soft where it was hidden

After a quick 3.5 hours, decided to call it. I like some of the runs at Stevens, but given their issues during this season, I'm renewing Ikon next year and not Epic. Even with Crystal limiting Ikon total days to 7 next year, I only skied 6 there this year so will end up traveling to other Ikon spots like Idaho and Utah.

A-Basin is probably the steepest mountain I've skied outside of Jackson. Bowls, trees, chutes...whatever you like that is advanced to expert they have it. Only issue with A-basin is a lot of it is high alpine so visibility can be tough at times.

Copper is kind of an under the radar place, which is something I love about it. Not as much of the extreme stuff but more variety of black terrian. Lots of powder staches, great bowl and glade skiing. Some of my favorite black groomed terrian as well.

If you go there I would stay in Silverthorne/Frisco and ski both.

After two years of getting both Epic and Ikon base passes, I went with the full Ikon pass this year. The blackout days sucked. All the places that aren’t blacked out are the places I day trip to so it’s not exactly where I want to spend long holiday weekends. Resorts on Ikon seem to have much more uphill availability than Epic as well. I’ll certainly miss CB though. JH is a bucket list spot, I haven’t skied Aspen in 20+ years, haven’t skied Taos and the fam loves Steamboat. I’m excited.

Just finished 5th day of skiing at Breckenridge. Wed-Fri last week was rough because my dummy self forgot to wax my skis. Yesterday and today weren’t too bad now that I’m waxing everyday. It’s soft/slushy, there’s bare spots on every run, and they’re getting bigger everyday, but I’m enjoying the hell out of this.

Wind was high yesterday and today, so Peak 6 was closed. The next two days will have highs in upper 50s. Should be interesting.

Sounds like an adventure. Any of the bare spots pooled water?

Do you wax your skies everyday normally or just in these conditions? The new DPS sitting behind me has their “Phantom permanent waxless system”. Im interested to see how that holds up.

None of the bare spots are pooled water. Just bare ground. I’m surprised that they’re not marking any of them with the orange poles. I’ve come close a few times to traversing some of them.

Saw a fella collecting his skis, and when he turned, I saw mud on his arm, chest, and face. He hit a spot that was skiable a few days before.

I usually get my skis waxed or tuned my first ski day of the season. I’ll use my stick wipe-on wax every few days. Never saw a huge difference until now skiing this soft/slushy snow.

Had another great day today.

Loved Copper Mountain growing up. We went there multiple times. Everyone who doesn't know what they're doing goes to Breckenridge leaving Copper Mountain for everyone else.

Looking forward to 22-23, considering Park City. My family includes teenagers and tweens. My oldest mainly ski's blacks. I'm more of a blue/green skier so we need a variety of terrain. Wife is a non-skier so nice lodging and a good base village is a requirement.

I am considering Lift and Grand Summit, both on the Canyons side. Anyone have experience with these?

How is the Canyons base village atmosphere/amenities in general?

Would we be better off on the PC side?
