If you’re the only one skiing and they need activities stick to the big resorts like Breck, Vail or Park City. I’ve personally got a soft spot for Park City, but Breck offers pretty much everything one could desire with a family IMO.

Steamboat has decent terrain. If you want less crowded you can go to steamboat. I like the WP terrain though. It’s hard to beat the Mary Jane side at Winter Park.

Anyone bought kids skis before? I’m seeing some really good deals for flat kid skis to buy for less than $200 (incl price of bindings) which is close to the price of the cheaper system setups. The system skis all seem to be foam core. The more I research the more I feel I’m over thinking this.

Eta: I’m looking in the 120-135cm range

Christys season rentals are $180 and Epic has a sweet trade in program but their appointments are booked solid. I don’t mind spending a few dollars more so they can have their own new stuff and possibly hand-down or sell.

This is purely a rumor, but my friend who works in public health in Denver says that the state is mulling a phase 3 lockdown that would limit all establishments to no more than 25 people at a time. Again, nothing concrete, but you may want to hold off on flights and accommodations if you're going to any Colorado resorts. I'll probably wait until December.

It’s not a rumor.

I think skiing will be happen for the entire season. Expect no amenities, restaurants, services, etc though. Grab a few boxes of Uncrustables and youre all set.

With Polis and this surge, it’s pretty obvious it’s coming. Wife works at Swedish and it’s just a ticking time bomb.

Kind of in the same boat as you. Trip to San Diego over Thanksgiving got scrapped so now looking at going somewhere with snow between Christmas/New Years. No one is really interested in skiing but we would be looking for snow mobiles, tubing, etc. Suggestions on a good place to fly to? 2 adults & a 10 year old?

If my arse clicks this button will my arse be expected to buy four additional lift tickets for me and my wife's collective arse (no pics), thus expecting to pay a minumum of $880 for two days of skiing plus rentals?

Or will my arse be buying two days of skiing for $440 plus rentals? Thanks -my arse

They are going to destroy the restaurants and retailers. They wont recover from another busy season shut down.

Yall think there's a good chance that we won't be able to ski for our trip from xmas-new years ? (Breck)

Gd that would suck. So much invested in this already.

There’s a chance. Colorado is getting slammed with cases and Polis is likely to shut the state down.

From what I've read on the Colorado Sun Polis seems to think shutdowns are "highly unlikely" . Article was a couple days old though.

My family is going to Breck in mid March and we have an extra day in Denver to burn. 4 adults and 2 pre-teen kids. Anyone have recs on where to stay in Denver and what to do for the day/night?

Many conservatives feared his (Polis) progressive views but surprisingly he has been more of a moderate liberal than progressive. It would be fair to say he is farther right than the states Democratic lawmakers. If not for Polis, Colorado lawmakers would have them shut down like Michigan. I really don't see him shutting the entire state down. They may take more of a regional approach if anything.

You might be able to ski, but bars, restaurants and shops may be closed or severely limited.

IMO Denver proper sucks. I’m as far west as possible and escape every chance I get.

I’d recommend spending a night and exploring Golden. It’s close enough to be considered greater Denver area, but feels like it’s own thing. Colorado railroad museum, lookout mountain, checking out downtown. Plenty to do for a day there.
